I wanted a 4X objective for my Nikon Labophot microscope. After spending a lot of time thinking about getting a CFN objective I read a little about this objective and decided to take a chance. At this price, it really can't be beat. Works great on the Labophot and I would have had to spend several times as much for an objective which was a real improvement over it.I have it hooked up to an APS-C camera. I posted one image of an aphid exactly as it came out of the camera. and one image after using a bit of focus stacking and Photoshop. As you can see, it can just almost fill an APS-C sensor. It may be possible to fill it with a bit more extension than I had. While I have not yet tried to use it for this application this lens is getting a lot of use for extreme macro photography. Typically rather than using a microscope people make direct connections to a camera. The idea here is get a series of adapters and extension tubes to connect the objective 160mm away from a DSLR/Mirrorless camera sensor. Then typically a macro rail such as a Stackshot is used to take a series of photos and a software package like Zerene Stacker is used to make a final image.Since this is a finite lens it does not require a tube lens and is very simple to hook up. Unusual for finite objectives it does not seem to require significant corrections from the eye piece and the fact it was designed to work with a cover slip apparently does not degrade the image much either. At this price point it really is an obvious choice.

I have adapted this to use on a sony a6400 and it produce sharp images but the DOF is very shallow so will require focus stacking in order to produce usable images.; so it's only really useful on static subjects. Also, FYI just in case it wasn't clear, there is no control over aperture or focus distance.

This review is more about the company than it is about the lens. Every source that I respect on the subject of macro photography has had good things to say about this lens. FedEx lost my order, I wrote to the company and Steve Q replied promptly and arranged to have a new one sent right away. Will definitely be ordering from them again.

Probably the best $20 I've spent on photography gear.... pair this with a set of bellows, a series of rms adaptors, focus stacking software and a whole new world of photos are in reach.

An amazing value for the money! If you want to get started in using microscope objectives for macrophotography without dropping the better part of $1,000, this is the way to go.This objective gets rave reviews, all of them completely justified.

I didn't even test the image quality because the working distance was only about 10mm. I needed a 4x objective with working distance of about 30mm. I am very disappointed that the specs were not accurate..

Amazing for the price!, fairly sharp and very little chromatic aberration. Very nice build- heavy for the size.

Used this objective to take very close shots of insects and dew drops by attaching it to my camera. Could not be happier with the results and ease of use, highly recommended.

Lo he comparado con el JML 21, que también tengo (me costó 350€) y este objetivo se acerca bastante en calidad. Lo que dado su precio es una compra muy recomendable. Su uso ha sido en fotografía de macro extremo con tubos de extensión.
