I purchased this adapter to record specimens under my amscope microscope with my Canon EOS Rebel T100. I researched adapter types and was pretty sure this should work for me... However, it seems like the adapter I received is missing the piece that actually connects to the camera... what I received looks different than the adapter in the listing photos as well as what others received in their reviews... very disappointed especially since I gave over $100 for this adapter. I'll be returning it and trying something else.

I purchased the AmScope CA-CAN-SLR-III NEW Canon SLR / D-SLR Camera Adapter for Microscopes - Microscope Adapter via AmazonSmile on July 23, 2019; it arrived by 7/28/2019. It has worked well and was very easy to get set up to use with my Olympus E500 DSLR camera. The microscope adapter came with a Canon DSLR camera bayonet fitting to mate with a Canon DSLR camera; I found (as I suspected) that the camera adapter was a T-Mount adapter for Canon DSLR cameras with a standard female 42 mm screw thread (41.88 mm OD x 0.75 pitch) on the bottom. As I use an Olympus EVolt E-500 DSLR camera, I was able to purchase a Rokinon T-Mount Adapter Olympus Four Thirds T2-OP to substitute for the Canon adapter on the top of the microscope adapter. The microscope adapter also has a very short screw fitting (27.85 mm OD x 0.75 thread pitch) located inside the larger T-2 mount screw thread (see photos # 1 & 2).The bottom portion of the microscope adapter (microscope end) is 28mm OD and fits directly into the photography adapter provided with the trinocular head of the AmScope T700D compound microscope. By adjusting the sliding tube of the photography adapter on the T700D trinocular microscope (see photo #3), I was able to get the camera focus to be parfocal w/ the eyepieces. One can rotate the camera + adapter as a unit on top of the microscope to orient the view desired for the photo (photo #4).To use the microscope adapter & camera on the AmScope SM-2BR dissecting microscope, one simply needs to remove one eyepiece and replace it with the adapter + camera (photo #5). Then use the microscope focus knob to focus the image on the camera viewscreen (a little more tricky than with the T700D compound microscope.Quality of the images taken was good for both microscopes (photos # 6 -8).Photo info:#1. CA-CAN-SLR-III Adapter w/ supplied Canon T-Mount (lower right) and w/ the Rokinon "T2 for OM four-thirds" T-Mount purchased to use with my Olympus E500 DLSR which has a four-thirds bayonet fitting. The additional sleeves for use with eyepiece tubes measuring 30.5 mm and 30.0 mm, respectively, are in the upper left and upper right of the photo. Note the male screw thread mounts on the upper end of the adapter (larger is 41.88 mm OD x 0.75 pitch thread -- T-mount screws onto this; smaller is 27.88 mm OD x ~0.75 pitch thread).#2. Olympus E500 DSLR camera with CA-CAN-SLR-III Adapter (using the T2 / OM four-thirds camera adapter) mounted on it.#3. Microscope adapter + Olympus E500 DSLR camera mounted on AmScope T700D compound microscope photography adapter. Note the screw knob (yellow arrow) which, when loosened, allows the photography adapter to slide up or down and focus the image seen in the binocular eyepieces in the camera eyepiece; when so adjusted, the camera focus and microscope focus become parfocal.#4. AmScope T700D compound microscope w/ CA-CAN-SLR-III Adapter + camera mounted on it.#5. CA-CAN-SLR-III Adapter + camera mounted on an AmScope SM-BR2 binocular dissecting microscope. Note that the microscope adapter + camera are mounted in the right eyepiece location.#6. Snapdragon rust pustules viewed through AmScope SM-BR2 binocular dissecting microscope at 2x mag setting (yellow bar = 0.4 mm or 400 um).#7. Snapdragon rust spores viewed through AmScope T700D compound microscope w/ 20x objective (bar = 100 um or 0.1 mm)#8. Lactarius deliciosus mushroom spores stained w/ iodine to show the amyloid warts & reticulum, viewed through AmScope T700D compound microscope w/ 40x objective (bar = 50 um or 0.05 mm).

Hello!Bought this for my AmScope Microscope so take everything I say into consideration with that fact in mind. I am not doing super microscope-y things with it. Anyway, the fit and function are all great with the exception that I get a small amount of shadow on the camera that I'm using while it is hooked up. I know it isn't light oriented because the shadow will move when this is rotated. I also know it's not the camera because it doesn't happen with anything except this. I believe it is probably a hair off centered.Anyway, with that in mind, this fits my needs perfectly. I could return it to try again but I I believe that it functions fine for my purposes. As I said earlier, the Fit and function are all very good. It snaps perfectly into place on my T1i and doesn't jiggle around.Earns my recommendation with the right application

The image through the microscope is sharp as a tack with no noticeable chromatic aberration. However, this adapter adds color fringes and seems slightly out of focus no matter what.

I tried for hour to get the same focus through both, adjusting the tube, distances, etc; but could never get them to focus at the same time. This makes it hard to find your "subject" and then use the camera to capture something. To make it work, your really need an external monitor connected to the camera. The zoom levels also don't match.Further, the amount of light needed for the camera far exceeds the output of ANY of the LED ring lamps available for the unit. At full bright, pictures are often underexposed. I had to add suplemental light when taking the picture, and turn it off when using the optics as they were too bright. And this was with having the shutter open for over half a second. So no subjects that move, only static ones. While there was no corner shadowing that I could see, there was definitely color halos and general quality issues. As this point I would not recommend this path. My SLR is far superior to any of the "made for" cameras, but without a good adapter, the results are not the same.

Not Long enough for Amscope T490B-DK trinocular. It is about 5-8mm short for it to work with T490B-DK and any EOS cannon cameras. I tries several cameras thinking that that the problem was the camera. But lifting the camera manually by about 5mm makes the picture go in focus. It came with no instructions or diagram that shows what is included in the box and how to mount it. For $90 product I expected some minimal instructions. Not just a cardboard box and these items thrown into it.

I have a Trinocular Amscope that I absolutely LOVE. The trinocular port does not have a lens in it at all. This mount does have a lens and makes the image look so freaking good. I love this mount I use it all the time!

This adapter has bad optics. It isn't branded with the name AmScope, just NDPL 1(2). The macroscope has plan apochromatic objectives. You can see in the image the very poor focus and chromatic aberrations in these cross-polarized crystals. The image was sharp from edge to edge when viewed with my eyes, but not in the image captured by a D-7500 through the adapter. I'm returning this for a refund.
