Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.

United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Irvine, CA.

Cons:-the items that come with it are almost like kids pretend grocery toys, very flimsy-the case is no better than a cardboard box made of very thin plastic..very thin.. but it's about the scope-the zoom in/out knob moves the lens a little when using so you have to hold it-the lite is so Brite and you can't point it at the object..you have to obscure it a little-its a little tricky and might not be for someone that wants lab quality for $30...nor should it be. So idk if that's a con or proPros:- It works. With realism and patience.-the zooms work good.- the microscope is pretty good quality.. totally $30 worth. And perfect for what I wanted...-good price to have a microscope on hand in case you wanna get your science on. (Bought this for myself FYI)All in all.. I'm keeping it.. when I was in school the microscopes were amazing.. easy.. heavy.. and had a lot of cool stuff... But in the end the image is the same and that's what I wanted for a much much much lower price.Oh and when zooming in and out.. just put ur finger on the main part that moves up and down to keep it steady so u can keep ur position on the specimen (wanted to use that word)...oh and the first pic is my blood... Hahaha.. creepy but I had to..

This is a really great starter microscope for young scientists. My 7 and 5 year old love it. They are so excited to find things to look at. I love getting them excited for something that’s so hands on and gears them towards learning.

I got this microscope for my daughter to help introduce her to science. It worked alright, but as you'd imagine it's a cheap microscope that's prone to focusing problems.I sort of knew that going in. If you're looking for a microscope to see if a kid under 10 will take more interest in science without dropping a lot of money, this will do.If you're looking for a microscope to impress a kid as a present, you'd be better off spending more for one of the bigger, fancier ones.

I was tired of giving video games to my grandson and wanted something to make him think and problem solve, I chose this set. It included everything he needed to get started, the slides, the batteries ,everything and the price was right. It's hard to find science related gifts anymore for kids but I was glad I found this. I couldn't have been any happier and he loves discovering stuff when he's using it. This is well worth the money and a big hit as a gift.

This microscope came with dust debris in and on the scope. It was literally dusty, which unfortunately made it hard to view anything. We could only seem to view at 300x. (And yes, we were using the item correctly by common sense and directions.) My husband took it apart to clean the lenses with a qtip. Although, it did not help much. Very disappointed. I was wanting to use it for our kids to use...and us adults can't really get it to function properly due to the dust and overall poorly made product. They label this as full metal frame, but that's all the metal on it. Otherwise, everything else is cheap plastic (eye piece, body of the eye piece and lenses. Even all the utensils are plastic that look metal in the picture are just painted silver! Lol). Monetarily it is cheaper than some other choices as microscopes go, but it should still come in clean working condition!

I have to say that I am quite impressed with this. I thought it would be one of those microscopes where everything is out of focus all the time, but I am shocked that it actually works! It is quite close to the microscopes that I use in my lab, the only problem is that it is dusty, but hey! I get what I paid for. The price is fairly cheap and affordable. There are no sharp objects in the kit, so it is safe for children. The pre-prepared slides are prepared well and the staining allows contrast and details to be displayed in the visual field.
