I needed these shims to level a 3D printer (needed accuracy and ease of positioning the shims). The accuracy is there, but there are obvious problems that led me to seek a better alternative (Gearwrench and Starrett Shims that are much more expensive understandably).When I opened the shim package I saw that all shims were cupped/bowed (none were flat) and there were some serious burrs on the edges. This may be fine for certain applications. However, any situation where you want to slide a shim to detect/feel for clearance and/or avoid scratching damage from your shims, I'd advise to seek other alternatives.

So steel shims, especially precision ones, are not one of those things that pop up on many people's need list. I'm no exception there but it has come up several times over the past couple of years, especially during my DIY CNC build when I was tramming the spindle. Several times I've found some on Amazon and put them in my cart only later to talk myself out of it wondering if I really needed them. After doing this several times I finally decided to just do it.I chose this kit in particular because it appeared to have a nice wide range of thicknesses. I took a minute when they arrived to check those thicknesses against the advertised size and they came in close enough for anything I'm doing. When you're talking thousandths of a mm from expected size things like dust and temperatures of materials come into play so I'm not splitting hairs there. One thing I did notice is that depending on where you measured impacted the result. Specifically on some of them the edges varied against the center and I feel this could be from the cutting process.Overall I'm pleased with this kit and the sizes allow me to cut off shims to fit specific applications without consuming the whole thing. So for the price this is a really good kit in my opinion.

These came loose in a box and a couple of the thin ones had gotten bent outta shape. There was no clear organization or markings on them, so I’ll have to measure out which is which. They all have a burr on one or more sides from being cut.The accuracy seems good with the thicker ones, once I take off the burrs.This one was a swing and a miss.

Some of the sizes seem a little off according to my micrometer, but for my needs at least it doesn't matter. No tolerances are listed so I'm not sure how far off is acceptable.
