This iteration of our most popular Analog Discovery oscilloscope also allows engineers access to new powerful features in WaveForms like the FIR (finite impulse response) Filter. Users can reduce the amount of high frequency noise that could affect the quality of their measurements. Digital loopback of captured signals to the AWG is now supported. AWG output signals can now also be recaptured through digital loopback and displayed alongside signals returned from a circuit under test.
Analog Discovery 3: 125 MS/s USB Oscilloscope, Waveform Generator, Logic Analyzer, and Variable Power Supply
Digilent’s latest multi-function test and measurement device, also known as the AD3, is a digital oscilloscope, logic analyzer, waveform generator, pattern generator, and much more. Using the flexible WaveForms software (supported by Windows, Mac, and Linux), the Analog Discovery 3 can be used in the lab, in the field, or even at home - you're no longer tied down to a traditional benchtop and stacks of expensive test instruments.
- Oscilloscope: Two differential channels with 14-bit resolution at up to 125 MS/s per channel with a +/-25 V input range, 30+ MHz bandwidth with BNC Adapter
- Arbitrary Waveform Generator: Two channels with 14-bit resolution at up to 125 MS/s per channel with a +/-5 V output range, 12 MHz bandwidth with BNC Adapter
- Logic Analyzer and Pattern Generator: 16 digital I/O channels at up to 125 MS/s per channel; SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, JTAG, ROM logic, custom protocols, and more
- Programmable Power Supplies: 0.5 V to 5 V and -0.5 V to -5 V variable power supplies; Up to 800 mA per channel when used with an auxiliary power source
What is WaveForms?
WaveForms is the software application that enables use of the available analog and digital instruments. The software has been refined by customer feedback for over 10 years and features a computer and laptop friendly user interface that has the feel of traditional benchtop software. The Analog Discovery 3 communicates with WaveForms via a USB connection to your computer, allowing users to capture, record, analyze, and generate mixed signal and mixed domain waveforms. WaveForms can be tested without hardware using its demo mode feature. In addition to the use of instruments in the application, the WaveForms application has a script editor tool, which allows custom scripting of the instrument in JavaScript. WaveForms is designed to be run on a laptop or desktop computer and is Mac, Windows, and Linux compatible.
For even more customization potential, the WaveForms Software Development Kit (SDK) can be used to create custom applications and scripts in Python, C, and additional languages.

It’s built well. For a hobbyist, trying to understand how electronics work on a deeper level, this is an invaluable tool. And the WaveForms software suite that pairs with it is just excellent too, once you get to know it. (You can even download it now and play with their sample software emulated scope to get a feel for whether you’ll like this hardware and if it’ll meet your needs)

Only used it as an oscilloscope so far, I’m sure it has tons of features that I haven’t figured out yet but my only gripe is that the waveforms software used with it is a bit clunky and difficult to navigate. I was getting frustrated trying to figure out how to get the clock cycle to stop right on the rising edge, and zooming and panning are way more difficult than they need to be. However, I can already tell that this is going to be an indispensable tool in my electronics kit.

Nonostante i miei numerosi strumenti di misura con caratteristiche elettriche superiori, questo è entrato a far parte della collezione.Presenta varie innovazioni rispetto agli strumenti standard che sostituisce.Le funzioni presenti nel software sono tantissime, è uno strumento veramente didattico.Ho il vantaggio di usare il monitor del computer con uno spazio occupato piccolissimo.E me lo porto ovunque.
