This is a very impressive little device! - The piece is very well built and obviously using high quality USB ports and other first rate materials. This USB hub also provides some nice unique touches you won't find on other brands like a numbered port display spanning 1-7 with blue LEDs sitting under each character that backlight each port's number when an active device is plugged into that position.Everything is housed in a solid, glossy white, hard plastic chassis comprising the smallest footprint of any active/charge capable 7 port USB hub I have ever seen. Much smaller than I was expecting from the product photo. The device is powered by an external AC supply (wall wart) that attaches to the hub via your typical two pole female connector. The power connector itself is located on the top end of the chassis next to the USB input/output cable that connects the hub to your computer. And Yes... as some of the whinier more anal reviewers have made abundantly clear to everyone, the AC adapter is one of the large ones and if you happen to own one of those odd power strips with the AC plugs aligned parallel to the row of female AC receptacles, then yes, this adapter is going to cover up several of the empty AC receptacles below where you plug this power supply in.My suggestion to those who consider this to be a deal busting design flaw... How about buying a better power strip? One that is designed to work with a collection of AC power supplies? They even make some strips that have swiveling receptacles to allow you to configure your power strip to suit what you are plugging into it! Amazing what technology can do eh? Problem solved and disaster averted! For whatever reason, Anker has chosen to use that specific AC power supply, so I assume there must be a very good reason for its addition to the package. So far I have been very pleased with the performance of the hub and have even done some hard drive backups through it using one of my Touro S Mini USB 3.0 hard drives just to see how the hub handled read and write to and from a 3.0 spec.hard drive. It performed just as fast as the dedicated USB 3.0 ports on my Macbook Pro do, so no complaints there. All in all, I am very pleased with this sleek little USB hub and have been very pleased to confirm that we are most definitely getting the quality and performance we are paying for here. If you are looking for a sleek, small and well built USB 3.0 hub with some nice added display features, I think you have just found what you have been looking for! And as others have said, Anker appears to be an up and coming small component manufacturing company who is specializing in first class quality devices for just a little more $$ than your typical Chinese stuff everyone else is offering these days.

Purchased to connect my iPhone/iPad to a power hungry DAC via lightning to USB 3 camera adapter or USB C digital AV multiport adapter for lossless audio. Works faultlessly. Very compact and presents well. I can also charge a few devices with the remaining ports.

It plugged in, turned on, and everything worked. Simply. If it craps out in a week or two I'll edit this but I can't imagine it will. It's purpose is simple. And it doesn't have a bunch of unnecessary LED lights or anything silly, just a small unit that does what it needs.

I've been nursing along an old laptop as my media server. As you can see in the photo, I have a wi-fi antenna, a solid state USB drive, and two USB spindle drives connected to the Anker. Those spindle drives require sufficient power to function properly (or even at all). It's working just fine. I'm about to get a new, cheap laptop to replace this one, and it may only have one USB port. This was a test, and Anker passed, once again.

The hub itself works extremely well. Good design, good features, good equipment. Like all other Anker gear I have purchased, this device absolutely meets or exceeds my expectations...with one notable and unfortunate exception. In this specific case, the exception prevents me from using the hub at all, unfortunately, however that is not the hub's fault. It's a design problem with the core USB 3.0 specification. Because the quality, design, and functionality of the hub itself are all excellent, I still give this product 4 stars. If you are not using wireless devices with your system or nearby (3' or less) your system, you will love this hub.Short story:1) The interference does not come merely from having the hub connected to your system; it comes from having USB 3.0 devices plugged into the hub. If nothing is plugged into the hub, I did not get (as much or enough) interference to the point where my devices would not work. Plug in even one external hard drive and game over.2) Even if Anker sealed their hubs inside a metal chassis instead of a plastic one (which would reduce some of the problems), the connecting cable between the computer and the hub could STILL generate enough interference to prevent devices from working properly or at all. I am using a pretty heavily shielded USB 3.0 SS cable and it still does not do enough to mitigate that noise.Details:It turns out that ANY USB 3.0 hub (this is ANY hub, not just/solely this one from Anker) has a nasty side effect of interfering with 2.4GHz-range wireless devices. This includes Bluetooth, most proprietary/non-Bluetooth wireless, and Wi-Fi A/B/G/low-speed N). As an undesired/unintended side effect of its core design, USB 3.0 apparently generates a lot of noise in the 2.4GHz range, and unless heavily shielded at all points, it will prevent wireless devices (keyboards, mice, headphones) from functioning properly or at all.My example: I have an iMac 27" retina with the wireless keyboard, mouse, and trackpad. This is the system I intended to use the Anker USB hub with. Since the USB ports are on the back of an iMac, and I don't like having to reach around (or turn the iMac) to get access to them, I figured a USB 3.0 hub was the best way to solve that problem. I plugged in two external USB 3.0 hard drives and my wireless headphone adapter and I was off and running.Right away, however, I was noticing that as I started up my iMac in the morning, the keyboard and/or mouse and/or trackpad were not registering with the iMac (light would continue to blink indicating it was still searching for a connection). My wireless headphones were also experiencing a similar issue. I could log in (with a wired keyboard and mouse I had handy) and go to System Preferences and re-pair the devices, then go the day with them working (usually). The next morning, however, same problem. This made no sense: the batteries in all devices were fresh, all devices sit on the same desk as the iMac (no shelves or drawers or bi-level differences), and the desk is clear of ALL possible obstacles (which, with Bluetooth shouldn't matter all that much anyway). After a lot of searching, I began to find a few references to interference with wireless devices possibly coming from USB 3.0 hubs. One reviewer even pointed me to a link to an Intel white paper on the topic (which can be found at http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/io/universal-serial-bus/usb3-frequency-interference-paper.html). Rest of a long story short, I disconnected the hub and all was well with my devices from that point forward. I am sad that I will be unable to use this hub (again, any USB 3.0 hub for that matter), but wireless functionality is a self-imposed requirement for me at this point, so there are no other alternatives. I hope they do a better job on USB 4.0.

Some USB devices are finicky and work best (or only work at all) with powered USB hubs. I have a couple of these devices and this powered USB hub makes them work flawlessly.

I've been through a few USB hubs, most of them powered. The problem with all of them - I'd plug in maybe three devices, and when plugging in the next one, it would drop one of the others. Or, it would take forever to display the contents of the new device (if at all). This one seems to behave properly, even with all the outlets used. So far, so good.

This is a really nice. I'm still using an old Oculus CV1 and although I still love the headset, hooking it up is a nightmare. 2 sensors and a headset and they all require USB 3. I also have the wire on a pully system meaning I also need extension cables for all of this to reach my PC. I don't know if was the length of the cables, or just not enough power coming from all of these USB ports on my PC, but I was constantly having issues. Sometimes the sensors would be seen as USB 2.0, or I'd get a blank screen all of a sudden, or sometimes my entire PC would just hard lock. Long story short this hub has solved all of these issues, it's nothing but smooth VR gaming now. I plug the 2 sensors and the headset into this hub, with just 1 extension connecting the hub to the PC which is so much cleaner. It's advised not to use a hub.. but idk this just works and fixed all my issues. Highly recommended. If I had any complaints it would just be that USB cable is pretty short, like less than 3ft long. Not a huge deal but something to note. It's also pretty expensive but it is top quality. It was also WAY less expensive than buying a nice PCIE USB card

This is a perfect solution if you use a laptop in the office. The 7th USB port is the dedicated "charging port". With a quick test on my Samsung Galaxy Note8 the 7th port does NOT provide "Fast Charging" per say (it simply says "Charging"), However, the charging speed's are noticeably faster than traditional laptop USB hub charging. For example: Within about 10-20 Minutes of charging my Note8 went from 83% to 98%.While charging quickly in the 7th USB hub the Note8 still connects to my laptop and I am able to transfer files like normal or even use SideSync to use the phone while working on my monitors. The build quality is good, it has a nice matte texture/finish on the sides and bottom (a more rubbery feel) which ensures that this Hub will not slide around your desk or set up. The usb line is good enough for a laptop office set up but may be a bit on the short side for others. The power cable that is included as well is nice and long.Total of 7 USB ports (7th being a charging port combo) is perfect for my needs.Thank's to the Hubs dedicated power outlet plug I don't need to rely on my laptop's power.I work on a lot of media content: blogging, write ups, video edits via Adobe PP/AE,and also Photoshop. My razerblade laptop become's quite hot during these sessions and so to have individually powered hubs helps me connect USB fan's and laptop coolers that help with temperatures as well as connecting a USB Ethernet adapter, my USB SD Card reader, and to quickly charge my phone all at the same time.I highly recommend this product.

I have had this unit since July 2017. While it works, I have problems from time to time where it just drops the connection - not helpful and frustrating during back ups or transferring large files to it. I have to disconnect the power to the unit, wait a couple seconds and plug it back in to regain the connection (or restart the computer with the unit on). Disconnecting the USB cable and plugging it back in doesn't help. When I plug the unit back in, I sometimes notice a spark - still works though. Also not happy that even though the computer is shut off, ALL of the USB ports still get power. I have a couple external drives connected to it but when the computer is off, they keep running. I would have thought that the only port that needs this power is the charging port. All in all, the unit works and when it is working, I have no issues with the transfer rates, printing or charging from the charging port. The unit is small enough that it sits on my desk and I have gotten into the habit of disconnecting the power adapter when I shut the computer off. I have a separate unit for USB charging so this is not an essential unit to have on all the time.Having said that, I am currently looking into a unit that I can turn the power on and off for each port, this way I can just turn off the external drives when I want and leave the printers and charging ports working.Ariel from Anker contacted me and I have to say that I was quite impressed with their Customer Service. She arranged for me to get a replacement unit within a couple of days and the replacement has been working fine since I received the unit. She followed up with me throughout the process in making sure that I got the unit and that the replacement was working without problems. I upgraded them to 4 stars because of their Customer Service. I would have given them 5 stars but I still would prefer to have the ability to turn off the different ports so that my external devices did not run all the time.

I bought this to bundle up several USB devices I have such as headphones, mouse, keyboard, etc. My previous experience with Anker with regards to similar devices has been really good, so I went with this model. As of writing this review, I am not disappointed at all.The hub appears to be solidly built and looks pretty sleek. The connectors and wires appear to be really well built. This was a pet peeve of mine with my old USB hub from another manufacturer - the USB wire was flimsy and the connectors kept constantly disconnecting from the hub. This one however, appears to be quite well made. One of the reviews did point out that the adapter supplying power is on the bulkier side - while it is absolutely true, I have no problems with it since it is tucked away in my power bar, never to be touched again. It maybe something to consider if you have issues with space.Time will tell if this device will hold up, however I have high hopes for it since my other Anker devices have lasted quite a while. I will update this review if anything else unfolds in the near future.

I was hoping to find one a little cheaper, and with USB-C, but after looking around for a while, there really wasn't much out there with more than 4 ports that didn't have excessive bright lights on them, or were much larger.Quality seems fairly good, it is able to power multiple devices that require power like a USB Headset, USB stick, and even charge a phone at the same time (plus a couple more devices that don't need power like a printer, in total commonly using 5 to 6 of the 7 ports)It would be nice if they would release a new model of the 7 port in black or aluminum with USB-C on the computer side - but for now at least, this one works well with a single USB-C to USB type A adapter.
