Not much to this egg boiler, theres the bottom boiler, the egg holder and the top/lid. The most important part is the measuring cup that comes with it. That little cup is how you determine how the eggs are cooked. You plug the device in, grab your egg or eggs and set them in the egg holder part, grab the measuring cup look at the markings and fill it with water to the marking of your choice and dump that into the bottom of the device put the lid on and push the button. Thats it. That is all you have to do and then wait, I chose hard boiled of course, so i waited about 6 minutes or so and the cooker shut itself off. I waited about another 3 or 4 minutes for the eggs to cool a little longer and pull one out to check and bam, it was cooked perfectly. Now in the very short and not complete instructions it say you can use the sharp point at the bottom of the measuring cup to pierce the top of the egg as to keep it from cracking while cooking. I did that to one of the 2 eggs I cooked. Neither cracked and both were cooked the same, but trying to use this SHARP point on the bottom of the measuring cup was a challenge in itself. First that SHARP point is just plastic and it is not even that sharp. Second is that it is about a little less than sixteenth of an inch long. I felt as if I was going to crack the egg trying to put this pin hole in it.Now that measuring cup is the key but mine only had 3 markings on it for cooking, medium with the least amount of water, hard which had the second amount of water, and last with the most amount of water was steam buns. Yep dont know where that came from either but that is what is marked. So there is no marking for soft so I am not sure how to do that even tho it states this in the title on the selling page.Clean up is easy as you can just rinse the holder and lids, wipe down the base/boiler part and you are done. I will admit it does cook the eggs great and is faster than getting a pot and doing it that way, I just wish it had all the markings on the cup that it says it can do, and maybe mention something about buns in the instructions would also be great.

I love hardboiled eggs. I love devilled eggs. I loved eggs in my tuna salad.. but what I don't love is heating up water to a boil and then boiling the eggs. So much work, so little time... BUT I now have a great solution!With the electric egg cooker, I can easily make hardboiled eggs without the worry of so much work. I've got things I gotta do!!So with this cooker I can pour my water in and poke the hole in the egg with the included accessory, I then set the egg into the holder, place the lid on the cooker, turn it on and go do things that I've got to finish up on. Once the eggs are done cooking, the internal timer goes off and I can continue on with my food prep (or, well you know, eat me some nice hard boiled eggs!!).The fact that I can quickly get the eggs prepared and can take care of other things while they cook without worry is extremely helpful for me.All in all, I'm super pleased with the cooker and I plan on getting more so that when I make deviled eggs for parties, I'll be able to do more at once without having to do them in batches as I'm currently doing. Totally recommend this product for anyone who's looking to save time with multitasking as I do.

First time using a steamer to cook eggs and I was impressed. The unit is small and lightweight. Utilizing a single on off switch and a thermistor to shut itself off as the water evaporates is simple yet functional. The quick guide does give you some estimated time but I still needed to tweak the water quantity to my liking. Overall, is cute, simple to operate and makes hard boiled eggs without the worry of all the hot water.

I am not happy with the "poacher". I wanted it to cook hard boiled eggs. The instructions did not include how long to cook hard boiled eggs. The brief instructions included were poorly written. I will return it to Amazon.

I already have a similar egg cooker of a different brand and it gave me something to compare this one to.For starters, I wondered if I got a return because of the packaging, or lack of it, it was just loose in the box, the closest thing to packing being the plastic bag it was in.Second, the little spike for piercing the egg shell, seems to be nonexistent at the bottom of the measuring cup. The cooker I already had has a sharp little spike on the bottom of the cup that pierces the shell easily, this one only seems to have a little plastic bump on the bottom of the cup. (I should note - I long ago stopped piercing the shells because I really didn't see much of a difference in making the egg easier to peel.)The cooker I had sounds a large beep when it is done and I have to shut it off whereas this one just shuts off. In a perfect world, they would beep and shut off, but given a choice between the two, I would rather have the auto shutoff on this one.Otherwise, it did the job, cooked the eggs the way it should so no complaints there.So in the end, the only reason it lost a star was because of the packing and the spike, otherwise it's a good working little cooker.

this is so easy to use and uses much less water making it boil so much faster than conventional methods. makes the perfect soft and medium boiled egg in a shorter amount of time. i did not receive a book of recipes or directions on cook times and methoosds but that is easily found. truly just plug it in and it is ready to go.
