Blue Light Explained
Macular Degeneration Blue light (HEV) penetrates all the way to your retina and has been shown that too much exposure to blue light can damage light sensitive cells in the retina. This causes changes that are similar to those of macular degeneration, which can lead to permanent vision loss. Many eye care professionals have concerns that the blue light exposure from digital screens might increase a person's risk of macular degeneration later in life.
Digital Eye Fatigue Short wavelength, high energy blue light scatters more easily than other visible light and makes it not as easily focused. When you're looking at your digital screen that emit significant amounts of blue light, this unfocused visual light reduces contrast and can contribute to digital eye strain.
Sleep Disruption Blue light is very important in regulating circadian rhythm - your body's natural wakefulness and sleep cycle. Exposure to blue light during daytime hours helps maintain a healthful circadian rhythm. But too much blue light late at night can disrupt this cycle, causing sleepless nights and daytime fatigue. People who use their electronic devices before bed have a harder time falling and staying asleep.
Why Not Block All Blue Light?
It's well documented that some blue light exposure is essential for good health. Research has shown that high-energy visible light boosts alertness, helps memory and cognitive function and elevates mood.
In fact, something called light therapy is used to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) — a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons, with symptoms usually beginning in the fall and continuing through winter. The light sources for this therapy emit bright white light that contains a significant amount of HEV blue light rays.
Also, blue light is very important in regulating circadian rhythm — the body's natural wakefulness and sleep cycle. Exposure to blue light during daytime hours helps maintain a healthful circadian rhythm. But too much blue light late at night (reading a novel on a tablet computer or e-reader at bedtime, for example) can disrupt this cycle, potentially causing sleepless nights and daytime fatigue.

Ordered 4 of these- 2 for me and 2 for my co-worker as we both have 2 monitors each. They work great for what we needed. The strain on eyes was getting to the point of causing headaches. They fit on the monitors very well, we didn't even use the adhesive strips. There is just a little bit of a glare, which doesn't really show unless the background on the screen is dark. The quality of the panels is very good as well. It really does help with the blue light. I highly recommend these to protect your eyes.

Item arrived quickly in excellent packaging and condition. My eyes have felt so much better and not tired anymore since using this monitor cover. Seller is also very responsive in helping out with my inquiries and requests. The glare happens when there is sunlight through the window, but not during night time or when there is just little sunlight.

I bought the 24" screen for the 24" LG UltraFine 4K Display sold on the Apple website that is specific for Mac. The fit was perfect and it was super easy to hang. My webcam sits on top of it with no problem. I hope it does filter harmful blue light; no way knowing for sure that it does. That blue light emitter included still showed some blue light coming through the screen. The screen is a glossy finish so it does cause some glare, but this is not a big deal. The colors and picture come through clearly. Overall, I would still buy just for the reduction in harmful blue light.

I've been using this screen filter for about 4 months but never actually got the time to review and now I'm finally doing it. This product really does filter blue light, however it doesn't filter a complete 100% of blue light as I still feel the strain in my eyes after a long period of time. I don't think the anti-glare works at all since I can still see what's in the background when watching movies,...If you follow healthy habits (your eyes about 2 feet from the screen, shut your eyes after every hour) then it should be alright.

It arrived packaged well enough so it did not break and was easy to install. It came with instructions and a test card to confirm it blocks the correct blue light frequency.

This filter creates new problems with glare that are as bad - or indeed much worse - than any blue-light issues it is made to fix. 99% of modern monitors have some form of glare reduction with a matte screen surface, so many buyers (like myself) may be unaware that a potential glare problem even exists. This product is glass-smooth, however, and it reflects EVERYTHING. First photo shows my monitor asleep with no filter. Second is the same shot of the monitor with this filter in place ["Anti Blue Light Screen Filter for 27 Inches Widescreen Desktop Monitor" $49.99; average rating "4.4"]. Third photo shows the filter covering the right side only. I cannot imagine a situation where this would be acceptable unless it's on an antique CRT with a fully-reflective/glass surface.Spend a few bucks more for the same style filter with blue light AND glare protection: the glare reduction may not be much better than what your monitor already provides (there are plenty of user complaints about that), but it won't make the glare a hundred times worse - like this one.(I'd have given this a top grade for fit except that it does not quite reach the bottom of my 27" diagonal screen. I don't think that's a major problem but dust accumulation and distortion might be future annoyances.)

The filter is more reflective than my monitor's screen. Reflections can cause tiredness due to focus issues. I contacted the vendor, and they said would be ok to attach an anti-glare directly to this filter. I still highly recommend this filter as, even with more reflections, my eyes are no longer sore at the end of a 10-12 hour workday. I was blown away as didn't think anything would really help, especially with such a simple solution.

I ordered a couple of protectors and they came with a blue light and a card, once you shine the blue light on the card it darkened, when I tried shining through the protector very little darkening. I am very happy with the quality of this product. I am going to buy for my wife's computer now.

Great product. All the others require that you stick a film to your screen which I don't want to do. It is clear, cuts down bluelight and definitely feel the positive benefits after 2 days. Just make more sizes! One for a 43" monitor for example!

I Used to have a headaches and blurred vision after spending hours on my computer everyday for work, but after purchasing this screen filter, I no longer have those problems. It installs very easily, just hang it on top of your monitor and it's ready to go. I highly recommend this product.

This hard cover just slides over the top of the monitor and rests there, secured at the bottom with some sticky gel tape. It does rest slightly above the screen since it is not a film on the screen itself but a shield which rests on the frame of the monitor. However, that does not seem to impair its effectiveness.

If you like to look at yourself instead of the screen then go for it. Even though it blocks blue light well, it made my matt finish screen reflective.
