I have a couple of lead lines I've made and one of them is with this Panic Snap. It's nice and heavy and opens so easily I simply love it. It feels sturdy enough to work in any situation and has a good amount of weight when working with my horses.

My wife and I have been training horses, showing horses, and training riders for over 50 years. We've bought all kinds of different swivels, latches, and snaps for tying horses. Good brass latches, especially quick-release latches are getting terribly expensive while quality has generally declined.This AOWESM brass Panic Snap is superb quality. We've never found better. This panic snap releases when the brass barrel is rotated half a turn. This design is better than those that rely on pulling against spring pressure because if the horse is pulling hard, it can be almost impossible to release that spring.These are not cheap in cost, but they also aren't cheap in quality. This is the quality and reliability we want, especially for tying a horse in a trailer where a panicked horse or a panic situation can lead to disaster if the horse can't be released quickly and easily.Five stars. Highly recommended.

This brass panic snap is as described in the product description. It is quite heavy as one would expect for solid brass construction. The surface finish is smooth without any sharp edges anywhere. The locking collar rotates 180 degrees to allow the snap to open and is held in position by two spring-loaded ball detents 180 degrees apart (that are not brass - look like bearing balls). The collar locks into the ball detents snuggly but releases to rotate smoothly. There is no load rating referenced anywhere for this snap, but it is pretty beefy. The closed panic snap side inner diameter when closed is 3/4 inch. All the moving part interfaces move smoothly, though it wouldn't hurt to apply just a light spot of grease to the swivel side bearing surfaces, and the two detent balls. This snap is what it purports to be. I am pleased with it.

I knew when I saw this clasp that it would be a good candidate for replacing the original tie-off clasp on my fall protection equipment.I have large picture windows that can only be reached for washing with a 26 foot long extendable pole, while standing on an extension ladder.My fall protection not only has to catch me if I were to fall, but it has to securely hold me while I lean outwards on my extension ladder. I feel that this clasp will be plenty strong enough for my weight, and it should be somewhat easier to release using just one hand.I will be putting this device to a good test in a few months.
