Run Capacitor
Run capacitors are used in a wide variety of electrical motors. They are used on some single-phase motors to energize the auxiliary coil to create a rotating magnetic field while the motor is running. In other words it helps the motor’s torque and efficiency performance.
Some additional Information on Selection:
- Works to replace any capacitor brand with same specifications.
- Select the correct Capacitance: do not use a different value than the one established by the manufacturer. The Microfarad ratings should be the same.
- Verify the Voltage on the capacitor to replace: Increasing the voltage rating will have no contrary effect on the performance of the motor. If you are replacing a 370V capacitor, you can use a 370V or 440V.
- Cycle ratings: All Appli Parts Capacitors are 50/60Hz rated.
- Shape of Capacitor: The shape of the capacitor only affects the fitting on the equipment. The actual performance or capacities do not vary regarding the shape of the capacitor.
- Size of Capacitor: Due to new technologies available, you may find different sizes for the same ratings. Besides affecting the fitting on the equipment, this has no other effect on the actual product.
- Material of Capacitor: Choose between a Metal Case capacitor and a Plastic Case if you are using your capacitor in humid conditions (i.e. Washing machines).
- Working Temperature: This capacitors are design for extreme working conditions. From -40F (-40C) to 185F (85C).

The capacitor simply works. Replaces the factory one in the same slot and it just works. You don't need anything more out of it.

Wow, what a difference! Like a lot of folks who believed after years of use their furnace blower motor was dying, I fell into the same dilemma and figured it was time for a new motor. My furnace is OLD but it's still in very good operating condition except the blower motor was having a more difficult time starting up and most recently wouldn't start at all - it just sat there and 'hummed'. Doing a little investigation on the internet I learned that the motor run capacitor was a likely suspect in cases like mine, so I ordered this Appli 7.5Mfd 370 volt replacement to the old ceramic UK made unit that I'd been using the past 18 years. After installing the new capacitor and giving the furnace a thorough cleaning, I closed the breaker and set the thermostat so the unit would kick in, and Wow, did it Ever!! It has NEVER started this quickly and has NEVER put out this much warm air, warming the house MUCH quicker than before and now saving us money on our electric bill as well. Considering I was looking at $400 for a new blower motor unit, this little $10 capacitor got our old Nordyne furnace running the best it ever has. Don't overlook your run capacitor!
