Use the applique pressing sheet to protect your iron from the fusible glue. Your project can be removed from the silicone mat, even after ironing.

I bought this for a quilting applique class, and now I use it for everything! Works great for applique, but also for pressing everything. I just retired and spend several hours almost every day working on various projects for gifts. This set is awesome. I would buy this again and recommend for anyone doing a lot of sewing. Great value. Easy to use and wipe clean. Size is very convenient.

The mat appears to be pretty durable so it should last awhile.If you are needing a gift for someone who sews, quilts or does fabric crafts The mat is defiantly worth considering. There are many things that a crafter person can use this mat and sheet with. Together both items enable ones ironing board and iron to be clean as opposed to sticky. When using these tools one is usually taking a sheet of glue and adhering it to the wrong side of an item or design, or fabric. One must first apply the sheet of glue to the wrong side of fabric. Then a hot iron is applied on top of the sheet and the sticky glue does not come in contact with any thing other than the mat and sheet and fabric. This keeps ones hot iron from becoming sticky with the glue. And as an added bonus the mat and sheet come with a nice container and instructions to keep everything tidy and clean,
