I like this one better than my old set that has rubber tipped mallets. Gives a satisfying smack as it connects with the ball. The balls to get minor scratches but that's to be expected. No splinters from the mallet handles either.

The set is nice. But it is made of wood and isn't sealed so it is a bit splintery. The color is nice. The bag is HUGE. Two or three sets could fit in the bag. Overall it's decent. I would be careful with kids just because letting the handle slide through their hands could result in getting splinters.

I took this croquet set to a picnic yesterday and it was a hit! The people who played it with me said it was a great idea for an easy game to talk while playing, and a good icebreaker. I really like the color coordination of the pieces too!

It was given as a gift. Im told its still holding up but its only bern 4 months. We are hopeful though. We purchased an expensive one for our son 2 years ago and the mallets fell apart first use.

We opted for the slightly longer mallets (32in) for this set with the eucalyptus wood heads. The mallets seem to be well made and have stood up very well to multiple games played over a rare sunny weekend. They are a comfortable length for adults (I am 6ft 1) and for the shorter members my family. The weight of the balls seems just right. This means that, with a normal back garden lawn, the balls travel up to 5m with a decent strike. This is just right for our garden and means that we don't keep losing the balls in the flowerbeds. The gates are generous in width and a little light but they are fine for our level of game - enthusiastic amateurs. The bag is more than big enough and is reasonably sturdy. I am glad we spent a little more on this set as it seems to be just right for our needs with no drawbacks.

A well made and fun game to play in the garden - for just the 2 of you or up to 6. Works fine on our uneven and not ideal lawn!
