I bought a cheap ukulele to learn and mess around with. I'm an amateur musician, play guitar and piano. I kept tuning the original strings it came with for about two months, a few times a week, would never stay in tune. Very frustrating. I bought these to replace those original strings and love them. They're thinner, more textured and have a lovely maroon color. After tuning every day or two for a couple weeks my Ukulele seems to finally keep its tune! Very happy with the sound, look, feel and overall quality of these strings. Glad I purchased them. Definitely a necessary upgrade if you still have your factory strings from a cheap source.

I got these for my Fender Tenor Uke. The Uke kinda sounded weak and lifeless compared to my Kala soprano. The Aquilas, while not giving it the resonance of the Kala, gave it a very clear, bell-like touch to it which is great for fingerstyle, but the thinner strings makes it a hair easier to strum. Overall very satisfied.

Fantastic Ukulele strings!I recently bough an Aklot Tenor Ukulele and came with regular Aguila Nylgut strings but they were hard to stay in tune, I put these new babies and they are holding tune longer and are really easy on the fingers too. And I love how they made my Uke look now...what a difference they made!

If you’re in an ensemble and they want you to cover solos, these things are golden. They’re not that sweet soft comfy tone of the other strings but they’re nice on the ear, superior fingerstyle performance. Quickest new-strings-in-tune experience of my uke career, definitely getting Reds for my uke bass

Knowing these strings reputation for snapping I was very careful putting them on. I put graphite in the nut slots, tuned them gently up to pitch without attempting to pre-stretch them, (something I don’t do anymore anyway), and the e string snapped less than a hour after putting it on.I wasn’t even tuning up to full modern concert pitch, I was tuning to A415.I’m going back to Aquila Super Nylgut.

Wonderful sound compared to other strings I have used. The A string is not tinny and the high G solid. C and E are simply fantastic. Great set of strings for a Concert Uke and lots of range for styles.

Sound is nice and rich. Strings are a beautiful wine color that looks gorgeous on my Uke's acacia face. And best of all the strings are nice and easy on the fingertips, requiring a lot less pressure than the standard Aquila strings that came with the Uke.5/28/2023Took off a star because the A string snapped while Uke was just sitting. I hope it's just a one off, will try ordering a new set.7/4/2024Another A string and another star. I love the sound of these, but wish I could buy just the A string as it is the one that keeps breaking. I have several of each of the others in my case. But am again down an A string.

I have used the Aquila Reds on a couple different instruments now, and I think they can work really well in certain applications. Usually, I am partial to a type of nylon strings with a wound C, but I've had issues with the wound string breaking on instruments with a slotted bridge that requires a knotted string end -- I've used these Aquila Red strings on those instruments and find they can bring a bit of controlled brightness without losing all of the warmth.... I have also had really good results with these strings on a banjolele and a resouke. As an added benefit, these strings seem to settle down and stay in tune very quickly, especially compared to nylon. I've had them get to the point where they'll generally stay in tune in as little as 12 hours, albeit with some constant tuning during the first hour or so after re-stringing and then only moderate play after.

I love these strings. I followed the instructions on the utube video about how to install them properly on my tenor and made sure the slots in the nut were wide enough. I tuned the strings keeping them out of the nut slots until they were in tune and then popped them in because I read that tightening them through the slot in the nut may be why they break for some people. They are nice and bright and they have sort of a rough texture that I've never felt on other strings, it really helps because I've got a highly polished fret board and I've found that smoother strings will slip out beneath my fingertip sometimes when I press down on them. The rough texture might not be to everyone's liking but I like how loud and clear they sound.
