About this item

  • Mini Ball Gouge - Based on the popular Ball Gouge, this scaled down version enables users to shape smaller radii and get into even tighter spaces. Carve smooth hollows and dips on a smaller scale.
  • Precision Barrel Carver - Controlled carving on the outside of the barrel can create right angle corners, and provides great access into tight spaces. The Precision Barrel Carver can be used on the side at an angle or upright to bore down into wood.
  • Precision Drum Sander - Finish where the Barrel Carver leaves off with the Drum Sander’s high and low grit sanders. Ideal for finishing and polishing after carving with the Barrel Carver.
  • Universal Base - Engineered to fit the Power Carving Unit or any quality 4" - 4.5" angle grinder with a 5/8” spindle. This base will allow users to easily interchange the 3 different precision bits to the grinder, ultimately transforming their angle grinders into precision carving machines. The slim base design provides the precision bits with additional reach.

I liked everything about them. They also gave me ideas on new designs for carving tips. Very cool . Will order again.

I really enjoy this Arbortech product, of which I own many. It give me the ability to remove a lot of material quickly and accurately. My only complaint is the cutting edge should be easier to resharpen.

I wish that they would expand their offerings. These things are great. Amazing possibilities for wood shaping and textures.

I have several Arbortech tools. These are solid tools. Heavy and well made. But .... when the blades get dull, which is @ 20 hours on oak (oak IS pretty hard), the replacement blades are nearly the cost of the new tool - IF arbor tech has any. I was told I couldn't get one part because the ship was caught in a storm. (?)Also to change some parts you have to find a box-end wrench that fits. You are given allen wrenches, but you also need the box-end. So three tools to change one tool, of which you get two?? They work, but the kick-back is substantial, so be careful. Essential knit-mail gloves (they'll go right through leather) and eye protection. Expect delivery delays; they use FSPS.

Get more sanding barrels. You'll wear out them out quickly. That's to be expected.

Killer add-on for the Arbortech carving system. Used for this project, including the texture on the top section.

I’m relatively new to power carving. I use an angle grinder to hog wood, and I have a rotary tool for details. I thought this set would be an awesome intermediary between the two. The mini ball gouge is smaller than I’d anticipated, and it’s tough to control. It has a tendency to bounce around, and is not great for details. Feels nothing like a nice burr. Does not feel like a precision tool to me, but could be my inexperience. The barrel carver has been a bit easier to get the hang of, and is nice for carving details on convex surfaces. I imagine I will get the most use out of the sander but haven’t spent much time with it yet.Ultimately, for the price I’m not sure where this set gets you. Spend the same amount on a decent rotary tool and a good burr and I think you can get more “precision”.
