Used this with an 18in breaker bar to break loose stubborn diff plug bolts, without the ratchet I couldn't get a good position for leverage since I don't have stands for the car, just working on the ground.Ratchet was sturdy enough I could put body weight on it to break other bolts loose, I weigh 220lbs. Still seems tight and strong after that abuse.

I bought the ARES 3/8-Inch Drive Ratchet (36004) to use with an electric drill to start my lawnmower. The ratchet is solid, heavy, and beautifully machined. But, just as other reviewers have experienced, when I tried it out, the ratchet mechanism repeatedly skipped out of the setting I had selected (I was using the drive-clockwise direction to turn over my mower).Because I was only going to use the ratchet on my mower, I permanently locked down the selector ring so it could no longer skip out of my setting. This involved disassembling the ratchet, removing the pin & spring that were meant to hold a given setting, reassembling the ratchet, setting the red selector ring to drive in the clockwise direction, drilling a hole in the selector ring in the position that corresponded to the inner hole that had formerly held the pin & spring, and finally, driving a steel pin (the silver circle visible in the picture) into the hole. Because movement of the selector ring was now prevented, the ratchet could no longer jump out of its setting, and it reliably (and safely) could work as a lawnmower starter.

My husband asked me to order this wee little item to get our old BCS machine started, since the cord was broken. He - in the pouring rain at the end of a lucrative yard sale - worked with the buyer to connect this item to a drill, worked some magic, and the machine came to life!It's not easy to use if you have no idea what you are doing, like me, but two men (one super handy, one sort of handy) figured it out. I imagine it is versatile on different machines. Otherwise I'm not sure what you'd do with it.I wish I could tell you more, but that's all I know. If you have a large broken machine in your shed and your partner asks for this, DO IT!

Makes changing a tire when you don't have a ratchet or impact gun so much quicker. All the breaking strength of the breaker bar plus ratcheting action. Tested by a tow truck driver on a few roadside calls and they bought one after trying mine out on a couple calls. Nothing too heavy duty yet but worked perfect on cars and SUVs. Recommend having it and a breaker bar in your vehicle for tire changes. Makes it so much easier.
