A few years ago, I started using Silver Brush Co. Black Velvet watercolor brushes, very good quality brushes that I like better than sable. They are fantastic and I highly recommend them for my students, and most professional artists I know love them and also recommend them. Even though their price point is modest in comparison to sable and higher-end brushes, they are still out of reach for many of my students who have modest incomes. When I was shopping on Amazon for the Black Velvet brushes, this set came up as a similar product, and after reading a few reviews, I took a chance to see if they might be a reachable option for my students. They come in a nice and sturdy cardboard cylinder, with a velvet bag that is nice but not very useful. But the brushes - wow! I continue to be impressed the more I use them. They are not “Black Velvet†level, but they are close, and certainly a quality enough product for artists at all levels. The 10 brushes represent a good range of options, from fine detail rounds, a small and large flat brush, a dagger striper, and the 3/4†oval wash, sometimes referred to as a “cat’s tongueâ€, a super brush for cutting in around objects when knocking in backgrounds. The value is truly outstanding, and I now have several sets that I keep in my teaching bag, my plein air kit and one in the studio. The belly of the brushes hold a lot of pigment and water, and the release is excellent. They do not quite have the length of the genuine Black Velvet brushes, but the point is nearly on par. For the price of one good brush it is a whole variety. I would love if Artegria made a few specialty brushes in a companion set - a couple of “rigger†script liners, a rake brush, a 2†wash and a fan brush would really round out the collection. The only negative is that they lost a few hairs in the first few uses. This set is an outstanding value and even pro artists will not be disappointed. I am a professional watercolorist, artist and teacher, and Past President of the New England Watercolor Society. I teach watercolor at several facilities for artists at all levels, and I am very glad I found this set and will recommend them to students in all my classes.

These are, in my humble opinion, a great set of brushes for beginners, and stufents. It’s so much easier to learn, if you have good quality supplies. I have been painting for years and these are my go to work horses. Why pay for expensive brushes, if I don’t have to. I like them almost as much as my Silver Black Velvet, Princeton, and Grumbacher brushes. Nice variety and they hold water well. They keep their sharp points too. I’ve been using mine for about two years, and they still work like new. Great synthetic squirrel hair brush. I like that it’s not real animal hair. They seem to have cracked the code on how to make a good synthetic watercolor brush.

This is a great set of brushes. There is a good variety of sizes. Unless you are going to paint something very large (not that usual for watercolor), it has all the sizes you will probably need.The brushes came well packed and packed again in a pretty and sturdy cardboard tube. Inside was a velvet pouch to keep you brushes protected inside the tube, or when you might pack them up and carry them somewhere to paint.There were clear instructions on how to remove the shaping glue from the brushes, how to dry and take proper care of the brushes.I've used them and they pick up the paint well and are smooth to use when laying down layers and washes.I'm very happy I tried this set.

This is a good basic set of brushes. You get very good value for the price. Excellent set for the beginner watercolorist. They hold their shape very well.

Needed a basic brush set to accompany my water color pencils. This is a nice variety of sizes and shapes. Bristles do not shed. When wet, they pull the pencil’s colors smoothly. The round storage container is handy to transport back and forth to class. Brushes clean up well and keep their shape.

This set of brushes is a true bargain. They are of quality construction and great to use. They handle well, hold the paint beautifully and maintain their points. My painting has improved immeasurably since purchasing these. I recommend them anyone who wants to improve their watercolor painting.

These are great brushes! The bristles do not shed into my paintings. They are also easy to hold, plus the handle isn’t too long. The bristles aren’t too soft or too hard; they are just right. So far they are excellent for the price.

These are really nice brushes for watercolor. The quality for the price is great. I would say there are probably better professional brushes or there but if you can't afford them then this set is the next best. Holds water and color well. No fallout. Very good construction. Smooth application of watercolor.

I was pleasantly surprised, these surpassed my expectations. The tip is a revelation, it holds its shape. The brush also holds water and watercolor paint beautifully. I really enjoy using these paintbrushes, even more than my Princeton Neptunes for watercolor. Really great set, great price, great everything.

A nice beginner brush set. I'm enjoying using them. They arrived well packaged and free of visible defects. All brush ferrules and their crimps are solid and fibers are properly aligned. The fibers are soft synthetic that have some spring to them. I'm having fun experimenting and learning with this set.

These brushes are very good quality for the price. I especially like how they hold the paint and that the rounds have very nice tips. I bought these to replace many of my very 20+ years old brushes and am very satisfied with them.
