Very well made and works smoothly. A great addition to my equipment.

Excellent to have in your astro-toolbox if you plan on using a camera. Finding the planet, then focusing the image, removing the eye piece, then installing your camera - can be a pain and time consuming. With the flip mirror, all you do is - find the planet, focus the image, flip the lever, do some minor focusing and you're ready to use your capture software. Its that easy!

This seems to be of solid quality, and it works fine. When I'm able to actually use it - see comments below - I find it a terrific convenience, and much better than trying to switch back-and-forth between eyepiece and camera.I have a couple issues with it; they are both related to my particular setup, and aren't a problem with the Flip Mirror device itself.First, my equipment: I'm using this with a Celestron Evolution 6", and a ZWO ASI224 camera. The first issue I encountered is that even when the helical focuser for the eyepiece is backed out all the way, I couldn't get simultaneous focus with my eyepieces and the camera. Again: a different camera with a different scope could work fine. I could also use a short extension for the eyepiece, but I never got that far because of the second issue.Second issue: with my setup, by the time the flip mirror and camera are attached, my scope is so long that I can't point it to high elevations above the horizon. I've found somewhere around 60 - 65 deg elevation is about what I get before something bumps into my mount. Sliding the scope forward on the mount isn't a viable option because then everything's unbalanced.I'm keeping it because, for objects low enough, this is very handy and works well. Hopefully these comments will help you decide whether this particular item is right for you or not.

I generally do not write reviews of equipment. This unit has several problems. The imaging port is approximately 36mm in length. The guide port is 22mm. The disparity between the two forces you to add an extension to the guide port for the eyepiece. What's worse, if you plan on using it for planetary shooting, and you use a cross hair eye piece to find the target, "centered" in the guide port, the target is nowhere near the centerline in the imaging port. Forcing you to "hunt" for the planet in the imaging software. The female imaging is opening 31.88mm. The filter wheel I have is 31.6mm in diameter. The single screw to secure the imaging device is not sufficient to lock it in place, and there is a bit of "slop". Compounding the issues.A flip mirror should hold the target in the eye piece and the image in the imaging port at the same spot dead center, this unit does not do that.

This flip mirror is perfect for amateurs who are starting out with basic planetary astrophotography and are wanting some help with the centering and focusing of an object. It is MUCH cheaper than some of the top-of-the line competitors, which lack the specific connections you will need on both the telescope and camera end. This is done to make them fully customizable, but adds to the cost.So what are the cons of this particular flip mirror then?1) This thing is HEAVY. As you progress more seriously into the art and start adding to your imaging train (Barlow, ADC, etc.) your scope and mount will be pushed to the limits of balance and stability.2) This thing is LONG. Other designs are more compact, again at a premium cost. Again as you add more items to your imaging train, you'll notice the length more and more. You'll likely have to slew to your object first, and then add the flip mirror to the train.Nevertheless, the build quality and functionality of this flip mirror is excellent. The optics are acceptable for it's purpose - the focusing and centering of an object WITH the camera attached. If you are strictly observing, you would remove the mirror for that session.Basically you are not going to beat this price and it will make your life soooooo much easier, and you are getting an item of high quality. As the years pass and you get deeper and deeper into the hobby, you may want something lighter and more compact, but certainly some experience should be built up first. Realistically, this is a great place to start. If this describes you, or if you are a lover of astronomy on a budget and are willing to live with some of the cons, I can sincerely recommend this flip mirror. I myself am enjoying it and encourage others to do the same.

Excellent product. Easy to adapt to various configurations and adjustable eyepiece holder is very handy. I bought two; one to use configured for DSLR and one for a Revolution Imager and am very happy with both setups. Depending on your telescope, be sure to consider your backfocus distance to ensure it will work with whatever focuser you are using.

Purchased this item to use with Celestron F10 scope and Celestron Neximage Cmos Camera. I also purchased a T/T2 (female tread) to C-Mount adapter from Astromania). Both, the flip mirror and T/T2 to c-mount adapter provide a good focus using the eyepiece and Cmos camera. The flip mirror allows me to find the planet quickly, so imaging starts within seconds. The T2 adapter is not 2 inch in size but 1.25" Female adapter. With this setup, there is no need to use the camera 1.25" nose, You simply screw the camera to the adapter, and the adapter to the flip mirror. This setup provides the same focal point for the eyepiece and the camera for my telescope. Both, flip mirror and T2 to C-mount adapter, are very good products.
