after returning the deluxe version of this product I had low expectations of this version, and those were met if not exceeded... the baseplate appears to be riveted onto the body, and was loose, also the "design" (if you can call it that) of the mount points on the baseplate itself does not offer any opportunity to mount this on any Vixen or Losmandy dovetail plates I can find ...its poor quality and thoroughly useless! (returned)

The small 65mm refractor I'm using for a guidescope did not come with adjustable rings so I needed a way to adjust it to align with my main scope. My guidescope set-up weighs about 6 pounds and is above the recommended load for this product. However, it holds it very well and guiding has been no problem. The mechanism allows fairly precise movement and although it doesn't have any means of locking the axes, the adjustments remain stable through the night. I removed the top saddle and bolted the rings directly to the top plate using existing holes. To mount this to the top rail of my main scope I bolted a saddle to the bottom plate. I needed to drill and tap a 1/4x20 hole since there was only one threaded hole provided in the bottom plate. The build quality is quite good and the mount is rigid. However, the set screws ("grub screws") holding the height adjustment thumb wheel were not tightened at the factory. This allowed it to turn on the shaft and prevented proper altitude adjustment. Once I realized this and tightened the set screws the mount adjusted properly. This is a major quality control oversight and the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. I've used this for guiding several times with good results comparable to a conventional mounting method using adjustable bolts that hold the guidescope in place. Overall, I'm pleased with the product and hope that Astromania develops a better system of QC from their suppliers. This is the second major Astromania product I've purchased with a serious quality control issue. For novice users, be aware that there is no documentation provided in the box.

Works great and looks and feels like it should last forever. Had some problems getting everything mounted (rings, clamps, etc.), but with all of the different variations of how this could be mounted and what could be mounted on it, it would be impossible to provide for them all. Once installed, it works exactly like I expected. It also holds it's position well once it is adjusted. It's so much easier to move the guide scope up-down and left-right in small increments than the old traditional way with the three-point rings. I'm surprised that this type of mount hasn't become more popular.

Altitude adjustment is solid. Azimuth adjustment is jerky and often overshoots the target. Construction is rock solid.

Pros: It is very simple to use and solid build, I have a 4-inch refractor on it, and it's very stable.. My only reason for the four stars is as others have said quality control. In the unit I received the only issue was loose screws. I bought some Loctite and did each screw.This will make alignment effortless other products are very expensive.

What took so long for someone to come up with this ?!? I love it ! Not for a heavy load. I use mine to mount a 120 mm guide scope. I think that is a reasonable limit for the device.

High build quality. This is the same as the highly regarded Skywatcher guide scope mount. Nice firm attachment without rings eliminates a major source of flexure.

This is a nicely constructed product and is reasonably priced compared to skywatcher and ADM offerings. However, I would agree with the review below that the bolt pattern does not fit any of the standard ADM or Losmandy style dovetail plates.....they really need to rethink this and standardize the bolt pattern. Also, they provide no mounting screws to mount it. Really what does it take to provide 4 screws of the appropriate size. Other than that this is a very good product for the price point.
