Wasn't the easiest installation, but ultimately I got it working and it's exactly as I was expecting. The key piece is to make sure you enable it in bios. I had everything hardware wise installed and was confident there, I found the drivers on Asus's website (I don't have a CD drive to install off of) and I got those installed fine. Restarted a couple times and it just still wasn't finding any of my Thunderbolt devices... and then it clicked that I had never enabled it in bios. I enabled it there and then everything was immediately working perfectly. I'm using a dock out to two 4k monitors and driving a mouse, keyboard and webcam through it. As far as I can tell so far, performance is the same as going direct. Great product for those with the technical skills to set it up correctly.

A lot of folks are complaining that this card doesn’t work or that the instructions aren’t comprehensive enough.I got this card working first try. Just ensure:- You have a TB header- You connect everything up (power, TB header, etc)- You use the correct PCIe slot- You turn on the correct TB settings on your MB BIOS (varies depending on manufacturer)Yes, theres some tinkering. This is not plug-and-play. But once its set up, it works great.-

I have beautiful Mac products for work but I still love to do some stuff and game on Windows. I bought this card to use with my Apple Pro Display XDR and LG UltraFine. Firstly, the installation instructions are lacking. It does not properly go through all the BIOS options and explain what you might need to do. The drivers are woefully inadequate and unstable. The Pro Display XDR works only 10% of the time after constant restarting and BIOS tweaking. When it does work it only supports 6K at 6bpc or 5K at 10bpc with HDR which is far below the capabilities of the monitor. The LG UltraFine works but you have to plug and unplug it to get display signal. The USB ports only work at USB 2.0 speeds. I’ve downloaded all the drivers, flashed the bios, tried everything and nothing works. This product is a complete disaster. Why you would even release a product you don’t intend to support is beyond me. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT especially if you intend to use it with a monitor.

NOTE: The card I received shipped with the latest firmware which REMOVES Thunderbolt 1 & 2 compatibility! From the release notes "Please note: After Intel update thunderbolt FW version to NVM 36, it no longer support thunderbolt1/2, and can only support Thunderbolt 3/4 devices now."I installed this in my home server with a specific purpose and that was to use my USB-C docking station for peripherals and 2 displays (HDMI + USB-C monitor). Full make/model of the parts are listed at the bottom of this review.Physical Installation: Straight forward and simple.- Seated both the Thunderbolt and USB cables on the card outside of the case.- Installed the card into the lowest slot available for this card.- Plugged the cables in to the motherboard ports.- Plugged in the power.- Used 1 of the Mini-DP to Display Port (DP) cables and plugged that into a DP port on my RTX 3050 (not the onboard DP).UEFI Config: I read the directions somewhere, but can't find it now!- Booted into the UEFI and enabled "Discrete Thunderbolt".- Once enabled, that directed me to enable some IOmmu setting under SA Agent.- Saved and ExitedDriver Installation: Confusing- Used the latest off the website first, no video but wireless mouse/keyboard worked.- I used the drivers off the DVD, same story.- Rebooted and updated the drivers again... rebooted, same story.- So I tried the firmware update for the card and the card was already updatedWhen it worked:- After the firmware update attempt I restarted to Windows 11- Reseated the USB-C cable at the back of my PC AND power cycled the TobenONE... IT WORKED!It works and I am very happy about that. I wish I could provide the exact steps for a simple install and setup, but as you can see above, I encountered some quirks with my attempt.Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming Z590-PLUS WIFI (listed as compatible)USB-C Dock: TobenONE USB C Docking Station (ASIN: B0CQ4KGG4J)USB-C Extension: AINOPE USB C Extension Cable (ASIN: B09FDWG61C)

I use a Mac Pro for work but also game on PC so this allowed me to use all my peripherals like mouse, keyboard, monitor usb hub, headphone stand and sound card all be swapped between the two machines with a single cable. Before this I was using a usb 10GB hub which didn’t have enough bandwidth for all devices so was unplugging 7 cables from pc to Mac whenever I wanted to swap systems. I can even use my 5K Thunderbolt Display on my PC with this add in card. Just be sure to get the right version for your chipset. Mine is Z590 but I believe earlier chipsets use the thunderboltex tr but don’t quote me.
