Plugged it in and it worked right out of the box. It comes with a software CD that is for burning and other software. It also comes with USB cable and a USB-C cable. It works with windows11 perfectly. Plus ASUS's website had the latest drivers and software so you can update it without using 3rd party websites!

Works right out of the box with my 2021 MacBook Pro with M1 chip running Sonoma. No software needed, just plug and play. Drive looks nice and build quality is good. Only minor issue is that the physical eject button on the drive doesn’t work when a disc is in it. The disc has to be ejected using the controls on the laptop. Otherwise, perfect drive.

As noted by other reviewers the Asus is a bit flimsy/delicate.But it does a good job of loading my cd's to Windows Media Player Legacy, then desktop to SanDisk.The price was right.Handle the unit carefully & support it on a solid base & it should be fine.

This is a very awesome Bernardino DVD drive a place DVD is quite well and Blu-rays the design of it is amazing just the right size what a place DVDs embroidery just fine weight is the perfect way I think using of uses easy I like that crazy to use the computer recognition is fast I had no issues with it as old functionality very well done

After finding out my Apple Superdrive doesn't work anymore with the new Macs, I researched and decided on this one. So easy. I have a 2021 desktop Mac running on Sonoma 14.6.1. The Asus comes with 2 cords, one with the Y, containing a usb A and usb C; the other cord just has the usb C. I used the later cord and plugged it into a usb c port on my external usb hub, put in a music cd to test it, and it popped right up. Didn't take long to download it, and I didn't find the noise any different than any other external drive. Very happy I found this!

It does its job very well and I have no problem reading most discs. I can do many things with it, such as listen to that CD quality audio everyone was talking about 30 years ago, run RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 the best it can run on a Surface Pro X, and watch Napoleon Dynamite. However, it won't run my Madagascar disc. Must be a problem with a disc. The disc is quite scratched. It does load the printables, however. Fun for the kids. But for real, people kept talking about the cables being Y-cables (having two connectors for power), but only the USB-A cable is a Y-cable. The USB-C cable is just a normal USB-C to Mini USB (I know, it has a dingus plug, but it works fine), no Y's, no stems, no seeds, no sticks, and is easily powered by my Surface Pro X I mentioned earlier. Well worth the purchase so far. It might feel a little flimsy, but still feels decently durable. Good drive. Buy it.

I selected this unit because it operates with either USB type 2.0 and USB type C, and after using this CD /DVD Drive for the past several weeks, I find it to be a an excellent value for the money Money, and have found to particular issues or problems to report.As an IT Professional, I can tell you that External USB CD /DVD Drives manufactured in the past several years all share one thing in common. The most affordable units are mostly of a compact / small form factor based on laptop model, and the drive tray is typically pretty flimsy. The weakness of the drive tray is especially noticeable when opening and closing, but is acceptable if you carefully use your equipment.That said, I purchased this drive for occasional use and was not looking for extreme durability in construction of a CD/DVD unit that might be used on a daily basis, and for several hours a day. The USB-C cable length is good, and is quickly and easily connectable the USB ports of the PC. The R/W speed is very good, and especially when connected via USB-C which would be expected. So far, I have found nothing out of the ordinary about this CD/DVD unit in construction, cosmetics, operation, or ease of use.

I haven't needed an optical drive in a long time and my tower does not have the place for one. Not many do today. I recently purchased a music CD (also been a while) and wanted to import the CD to my iTunes library. It worked perfectly. Very satisfied.

Ideal si tu equipo de cómputo no cuanta con unidad grabadora de DVD, se que ya casi no se usan pero siempre se necesitan para algún respaldo o trámites en dependencias que aún te solicitan información en estos medios de almacenamiento, es compacto, ligero y silencioso, fácil de conectar, cuanta con conexión usb tipo C.
