I GOT A COUPLE OF THESE FOR LONG TERM STORAGE. GOOD VALUE FOR THE AMOUNT OF SERVINGS. I LIKE PINTOS AND CORNBREAD JUST ADD BACON GREASE WHEN COOKING. IF I DONT HAVE BACON GREASE I WILL ADD A HAM HOCK. COOK SLOW FOR BEST RESULTS.

As I’ve gotten older I am trying to eat more healthy. For the past year I was leaning heavily on garbanzo beans as part of a more Mediterranean diet but recently decided to try adding more pinto beans to my options. After trying canned beans I decided to start making them at home. I watched a few videos and ordered this item.Let me say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. While you still need to wash and soak these they are already very clean. I haven’t seen a single pebble, and during soaking I don’t have to remove too many broken, discolored or floating beans. Again, the quality is impressive!I’ve already made four large batches in my dutch oven along with some peppers, cumin, etc and sometimes a bit of salted pork. I’m having a lot of fun experimenting with the ingredients, and it always comes out healthy and amazing! I was recently complimented on my appearance as I’ve even lost a few pounds.So now I’m eating great and saving money too! I wasn’t sure if I could use a whole 4lb bucket but now I’m sure it will be used up in a few months and I’ll definitely order them again!

Why I purchased: I live in California where power outages are frequent and earthquakes are always a worry. These supplies help me rest assured that I have a healthy, filling food source if there are ever any problems.How I'm using it: Purchased this along with the Augason Farms Long Grain White Rice bucket of the same size. Beans over rice is a very filling and nutritious meal using 2 pantry staples that can be customized in a variety of ways with different seasonings/sauces. Combining the two foods will make for a more appetizing, healthy, and filling meal that can stretch out how long the buckets last you versus trying to fill up on plain beans or plain rice alone. You could do the same thing with meat and rice however I prefer beans and rice because freeze-dried meat generally comes in smaller quantities and is more expensive.Storage: Came in nice buckets for easy storage. Be careful when lifting/opening the Amazon box though as these buckets are extremely heavy given the contents. The expiration date was true to my expectations for shelf life. Once opened, the beans must be used within 1 year.FYI1. Make sure you have a way to cook these without power in case of emergency (ex: a camping stove). These are long term storage foods not freeze-dried ready-made food/meals (which Augason Farms also sells). You cannot just pour water on them, you must cook them.2. Long Grain White Rice stores much longer than Brown Rice due to the natural oils in Brown Rice3. Augason Farms sells a similar bucket of Black Beans if you prefer that over Pinto

Not a chance! Amazon sells ADULT TOYS!You sell items that the vast majority of your buyers would be alarmed. A big part of your profits are becauseof the ADULT section!FORBES says this is one (major) reason Amazon has passed Wal-Mart in sales!You'll edit this part also.---3 people, to date, thought the little 'ditty' was funny. I replenished my long term storage and out of all I bought these beans were open and spilled out insude the shipping box and the seal ring was still intact so it was improperly sealed before shipping

I used these to fill my daughter's water table so that she had ways to play with it outside of the summer season. I like 2 things: 1. That I can buy the beans in bulk to avoid purchasing bags and bags, and 2. The container remains tightly sealed so that I don't have to worry about bugs infesting it as I use only 1/3 of the beans at once. The kid has a blast with them so I recommend them for this purpose.
