The first time you need snow chains and have a pair to use you will know why they are a must! When the roads are built up with packed snow or ice these guys will help you get where you are going easier and safer. They are simple to install and once you have done it and understand it, they will go on in minutes. They are lightweight compared to sets I have owned in the past but that aids in easier installation. They are much better than cord type and the pattern of these seems like I get better contact with the road than straight chains. They store neatly in the included pouch and are ready to go when you need them. The fit chart was true to size for me. I have a Dodge Durango, so I have ample wheel clearance. If you did not have such open wheel wells maybe they could be a little more difficult to install but I think by design, they install easily. I have not needed to make any repairs, but it comes with a few repair parts which is great because the first time I need them they are already on hand. These are like a snowblower, even if you have for years unused the first time you really need them, they are gold!

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with this set of snow chains. I have a 2024 Ram 1500 Laramie and these fit it perfectly. They stay up and away from my rims but cover the tire fully. I was afraid that they would be too complex and difficult to put on. I was wrong. It took me about 5 minutes to get the first one on and even less time to get the other side done. Once you do it the first time and understand how they install, they don't seem so daunting. Removing them took less than a minute each. They seem to be built well. They include a couple of replacement links in case something happens and you do need to repair them as well as a storage bag to keep them in. I forgot about the gloves. They include a pair of gloves that even fit a big set of hands like mine. The chains worked well for me in a recent snow storm we had in Mississippi. Down south, snow usually means ice and that means you can't steer your vehicle. I have 4 wheel drive, but without chains, I still wouldn't be able to steer on a sheet of ice. These allowed me to drive under 30 MPH and maintain full control. At this speed, I felt safe and the noise was typical of a set of chains.

First things first, I agree with the sizing chart. I ordered the SCRV270 size for my 285/70R17 tires and they do fit. Just like I suspected though the tire is at the top end of the fit chart so it is tight which means that getting them on in the snow will be a little tough (or a lot tough depending on the conditions). The construction looks good and the actual traction chains have a nice squared off pattern which should give really good grip on ice. These will definitely handle any situation on the road as well as some very light off road use. Trying to get a more aggressive chain is always a tradeoff with clearance and weight and I think these are perfect for my use.The installation is pretty straight forward as long as you have enough clearance in your wheel well. I find that for vehicles with less clearance you need to do it the old fashion way and lay out the chains and drive onto them so you can control where the connection point is. This of course is going to be the case with any chains. It did take a it of adjusting and getting in and out of the car to get the chains centered on the tire. All of these split style chains end up going on a little crooked because the cant quite get around the bottom part of the tire enough. The rubber strap for keeping the chains tight I think is inadequate. I haven't tested beyond driving a couple hundred yards on pavement but I'm definitely going to add an additional set of 4way bungee cords to keep everything in place. That is the only reason for -1 star, otherwise I think they are great.

You're never going to regret having a set of tire chains in the back of your vehicle during the winter time. These chains are good and for a reasonable price. They're easy to install on dry ground, of course no chain is easy to install in bad weather. They fit my tires well and make about as much noise as any chains do. The tensioners work alright as long as you keep the speeds low.I like the square links, hard to prove but it makes sense that they would give you a little more bite than the traditional round links. Same goes for the diamond pattern, I like that the chain is pretty much always in contact with the road sirface. The included gloves are really great to have, messing with cold frozen chains with bare hands is very unpleasant. The included carrying bag is of poor quality and I don't expect it to last more than one or two seasons in the back of my vehicle.Overall, these are a good pair of chains for a good price. Think of it as an insurance that you hope you don't ever have to use, but you're going to be glad to have them if the need arises.
