This thing works! We’ve had an incredible amount of snow the past few months here in upstate NY! I’ve been roof raking and shoveling, had enough and luckily found this. Came a few days late, but that’s because of the weather. After shoveling half of my roof off (for the third time), I used this on the rest and it worked great! Did have trouble with the tarp blowing in the wind, and the whole rake end would get turned sideways where I previously shoveled. Takes some work but well worth it and better than a regular pull down roof rake!

This works very well ,kinda heavy but if you work it right to shift it and not pick it up off the roof, it isn't so bad . Snow just glides off. Seems very sturdy

First off this thing is very heavy when completely assembled and pretty hard to maneuver once its up on the roof. That being said it works great if your roof is the right angle and isn't too tall. My house is one story and It's not long enough to reach all the way up, it might with the extension but I'm hesitant to get it because of the weight and price. Also if you have a porch like mine and the roof and is flatter than the house that can be a problem; and will require you to need a ladder to clear the porch roof with a shovel, use the Avalanche to clear the house roof above the porch, and shovel the porch roof once again. For the price its a little hard to justify seeing as I still need to get on my roof and shovel. The assembly was super easy and quick, although it generally does freeze together when using, so disassembly can be an issue if you don't have a place to let it thaw or to just keep it outside. The last this I will say is this, and I believe this should be a big consideration. The spots of my roof that it does work well with the angle is quite a big area, and this tool does allow me to get enough snow off by myself without using a ladder making me worry less about the weight of the snow on the roof being too much. I have a spine injury so being able to get on the roof and shovel everything properly is not possible for me right now. Knowing that I can do a lot by myself even with my back as it is, not having to always hire a neighbor or expensive company, and having less chance of ice dams forming in the cleared spots is absolutely worth the money to me.

this product was absolutely amazing. We have been dealing with huge amounts of snow in the Northeast this year. Ice dams are on every roof, and it was only getting worse. I couldn't find a roof rake in a store to save my life, and I stumbled upon this on Amazon and it was one of the only options available with Prime shipping to get it before the next storm was due. I couldn't be more happy to have found it, it turned what was a six hour job into less than one hour to complete. I do have a ranch house that has a low roof so that made it much easier to use than I would imagine on a two story house. The snow came right off as the plastic chute made of perfect track for it. it can be kind of heavy when holding it by the very end of the handle, it was still a work out to clean the snow off the roof but this product made it much much easier. I would easily recommend this to anybody in need of a roof rake, I would imagine it would be easier to use soon after a storm before the snow has time to harden on the roof. I used it about 4 days after a heavy snowfall but the temperatures were very cold so the snow did not melt or get hard. It is well built and very sturdy but I can see the plastic sheet wearing out or as others have said, getting caught on something and possibly tearing. Assembling the avalanche roof rake was simple and done in about 10 minutes. The little handle to roll up the plastic sheet does not work at all. it is stated in the instructions that the manufacturer will not warranty the plastic as it is a wear item. I could see myself using this on a second story roof on a ladder, but I am also very comfortable on a ladder as I work on them and around them daily. For your average homeowner, I would probably not suggest this product and using it on a ladder for a second story roof. The handle is not long enough in my opinion. I was able to stand atop a 4 foot step ladder, I don't suggest anybody doing that, and I could reach my entire roof, as I stated I have a ranch home and it is not a very large roof

We had 5 day old snow on our roof and this cut right through it. It worked great and was pretty fun to use!

Due to my height I still have to climb a ladder to rake off te snow but this tool helps make it significantly easier and relatively safer. I just wish they put in a spare set of wheels for it. The wheels can becime rough after some uses.

I am a 65 year old woman. Mustering inspiration, and then using my regular roof rake for the past 10 years spoiled my enjoyment of snow. It was a grueling task. I bought the Avalanche and it was a miracle! Easy. Fast. Much, much less work. And actually a bit of fun. Does a spectacular job. I don't typically write reviews but I am happily warming up now from using Avalanche (took less than an hour at leisurely pace) with a whole day left and ahead of me ! Happy holidays - I will be looking forward to a white Christmas! Fyi If you are comparing other products, the Avalanche has wheels which protects your shingles from damage.

I wish I spent a little more time & effort looking for a product of this kind before purchasing the Marshall. It's a great concept and well executed. Underside of the Y connector has a interesting shaped bulge, if you position and apply force correctly will help break that chunk of snow you're working on off. I think this would be better executed if that piece was V shaped. Other than that, there are few complaints about how it functions. It's well built. But why 3 stars? Easy. Cost. This product screams for a Chinese knock off where a manufacture produces an on-par quality product with fairer pricing. The only reason I chose the Marshall vs other are the plastic wheels as I have solar panels.Given the cost to buy the 500 (the 750 is basically "a fool and his money are easily parted"), 16ft pole is barely sufficient even for 1 story roofs. It should be 24ft standard. (I can easily see how 32ft would get too unwieldy). The 8ft extension is $75! The fibreglass posts seem well built & good quality, but at $75 for 8ft, the poles should be Kevlar. The plastic tarp isnt really that durable. After 1 use doing 4 roof faces, it's already developed quite a few holes and deformed at parts along the edge. I suspect blue TuckTape will be a decent fix, however, I dont think the tarp would last 3 winters, so again, price.... how much is the replacement part gonna be?Marshall seems to more focused on extracting absolute max from the consumer. Case in point, the price difference between the 500 & 750. You're paying $20 extra for a set of slightly larger plastic wheels. THAT'S IT! Case in point, Marshall recommends the 750 for clearing solar panels, but the extra large wheels add nothing for solar panels, in fact the 750 leaves a thicker layer of snow on the panels. The 500 is what you want for clearing solar panels.

I was really impressed at how easily and quickly this rake removed snow from my roof and no damage done to the shingles. It is a great product and I highly recommend it to any one who has to remove snow from their roofs. It is by far a more safe way to do it as you don't have to climb a ladder and get on the roof to shovel. The only downfall is it didn't work well for removing snow at my cottage as the snow was deep and very hard. The avalance couldn't cut through the snow. This will be easily remedied in the future now that I have it because snow will be removed in a timely manner.
