Right now, I'm giving this unit a 5 but, since my DT-22234C+'s laser died with less than 50 usages, I may have to recall my review. For now, I used this Tach to test & set the RPMs on two B&S lawn tractor engines using a reflector on top the debris screen. The measurements were compared to a wired inductive tach connected to the spark plug wire. Both readings were tolerably the same. I could never get my other tach to come within 500 rpms during this same check. I like the on-off and AAA battery features (I totally dislike 9V batteries). So far, so good.

I rebuild alternators and starters, we were curious as to the speed the alternator was spinning. The product seems to be accurate, will have to test it on a few other products or one that displays a secondary speed.

Got this to measure the spindle speed on my drill press because I though it was spinning too fast and to ensure I was setting the belt properly. Well, it turns out that it was NOT spinning too fast and the belt was set properly because it is reading within just a few RPM of what the drill press states it should be running at with the belt in that position. So, guess it works great!

Purchased this to adjust zero turn mower. You have to adjust the speed of each rear wheel which are driven by hydraulic motors. I taped the reflective strip to each rear wheel, jacked it up and started it up. Checking the speed of each rear wheel. It takes a minute for the tachometer to stabilize its readings. Was able to adjust them to within 1/2 rpm. Worked well. Will get two earth magnates to make reflective dots to use on other metal objects, those will work easier than using strips of reflective tape. Overall well satisfied with units.

It still powered up but did not read anything after a month and a half. Used for small engine repairs. Not sure if it was accurate with no other method of reading rpm.

Needed to check motorcycle engines rpm. This unit worked very well and was not hard to use.

use one time it showed 645 rpm about right

Purchased this product to use on my direct drive lathe which has only a "1-9" speed setting dial. I can't be certain about the accuracy of the meter, but the read speeds do seem reasonable based on my experience turning wood. I took one reading at about 60 rpm and it checked out with my count of actual revs.It took a few tries to learn how to hold the meter. What I like: 1. off on switch with "hold down" to obtain reading; 2. Compactness; bright laser; several tape strips in case I make a mistake and need to re-tape.What I don't like (but have learned to work with): size/shape of the laser spot on tape . Would like it to be smaller-more sharply defined so user doesn't have to be so close to the rotating equipment.
