The BAND-IT T30069 center punch tool has a tension handle and a floating punch head and can be used on a workbench to tighten and secure a BAND-IT center punch clamp around a fitting. The tool accepts BAND-IT center punch clamps that are 5/8" wide and between 1" and 8" in diameter. The tool comes with an adapter that enables it to accept clamps that are 3/8" wide and 13/16" or 1-3/8" in diameter. The tension handle can be pushed downward with short strokes to tighten the clamp. The continuous take-up function can tighten a clamp of 8" diameter until it measures 3/4" in diameter. The floating punch head can be hit with a mallet (sold separately) to create a dimple lock in the clamp to secure it. The tool is made of carbon steel, which is resistant to impacts and wear. It weighs 3.2 lb. and measures 26.4" long. This product meets ASTM International Standard A366 for cold-rolled carbon steel.

We started with the cheaper version which broke almost instantly and we had to constantly beat on it to release the wound up bands. This one is well built and fast to use. We can replace clamps in no time with this thing. Also, don't pound too hard on the stamper or you will bend your fitting.

Well built tool, gets the job done like it's supposed to. Add a hammer, a hacksaw and a few clamps and you can make hose repairs in the field.

The most important piece is the punch pin. This must stay in place in order to secure the tension once the clamp is tightened. The pin started to fall out after about 30 clamps were installed. We were able to stick it back in to continue to use it. There is a retaining ball that’s supposed to retain the pin in place. It’s nowhere to be found. The tool worked and we were able to finish the 44 clamps we were installing. Once the pin is finally lost from falling out, the tool will be useless.
