We are on a well and I got tired of cleaning the grit out of all the filter screens in my house, faucets, shower heads, water softener, tank-less water heater, washer hoses, dishwasher etc.I had tried sediment filters (string type) in the past and found that they were a bacteria playground, prone to leaks and a pain to change.When looking for a screen filter for the water heater I found whole house screens. The clear "spin down" filters had a lot of leak and cracked plastic reviews so I settled on the Banjo Polypropylene filter with a 100 screen mesh. The 100 mesh is stopping fine particles that may make my undersink drinking/cooking and ice filters last longer.The drain plug on the bottom is 1/2" NPT so I was able to attach a drain valve and rout it to the washing machine drain.Works great! The inlet is the center of the screen so when I open the drain it creates low pressure in the center and the residual pressure from the house provides a "pulse" that blasts the grit and dirt off of the screen and drown the drain.
