This sturdy and attractive umbrella has been handy tho I have yet to use it as shade from the sun. I find it difficult to close and it takes more strength than I can muster without pressing it against a sturdy object.

It's a really good umbrella.The fact that it fold inside out prevents you from getting the watter over you, but also preserves it clean longer.It's too big, though. 50inch is too big for one person. Especially if you want to use it as sun protection on daily basis.For heavy rain it's perfect, but inconvint to walk close from others in a sidewalk or places with other pedestrians close to you.

🚩 Removed 1â-- it worked for a single run to my car in strong rain, but already lost ~all of the reflective coating on the edges (not necessary for sun protection). SEE PIC where gray is and see specs of silver - used to be all silver. This doesn't bode well for the long lasting-ness of this umbrella since it was the 1st rain and have only had a couple weeks🚩Ive only had it a few weeks, but use it at least 1x daily for dog walking, and often more for running into work/the gym, etc.✔ï¸It does a fantastic job protecting from the Sun (see lux- bottom pure sun, mid where face is under umbrella, top measuring by waist) ✔ï¸Exceptionally lightweight compared to others. ✔ï¸The size is perfect, and the color, though not important, is cute. ✔ï¸its longer than others I've used which is nice - you don't end up holding it against your head bc the handle has lengthâŒI have CONCERNS about the spring mechanisms failing since that's what usually fails, especially on umbrellas that open with extreme force like this one. Its made like all the other spring umbrellas I've used (see pics of hook/spring systems which add stress on fabric) I'm not hopeful it'll last long but maybe this brand has done it right(?) âŒAn added concern for spring failure is due to fact that it's 'inverted' so there are more springs to fail.[âŒ/✔ï¸] The wind is NOT it's friend but it's sufficiently sturdy if you point it into the wind (which is what you should do with any umbrella) I don't expect something this light and cheap to be able to stand up to strong winds, regardless of marketing, it's just not possible, but that's fine. âThough it's actually done a fine job of not collapsing/folding in wind (my standards are low though - i used a broken umbrella for ~ 1yr)âŒIf you hold it too close to your head (ie while texting/writing a review ;) and holding it btwn shoulder and neck be careful - your hair can get stuck quite easily in the hooks!However it's been great so far! I'd recommend it. There's a dearth of good sun umbrellas out there and this one fits the bill

I got this because I like to take walks every day but I have lupus so the sun is my enemy. I hadn't used it for a long time as I usually walk very early and wear a huge hat. Well I just got through a huge flare and am even more sun sensitive now so the hat was no longer cutting it on its own with sunblock. I started using this umbrella and it's GREAT. Pretty sturdy unless there's some wind. Seemingly not any worse than an ordinary umbrella. In that case I just grab the edge to stabilize it. Does it's job against the sun. Great pink color. Can't remember which size I got while writing this but it's enough for one person while still being light enough to carry for five miles. Doesn't feel any heavier than my regular umbrella. The only drawback is that it's very hard for someone with little muscle strength to close. I have to push it against something to get it to fully click closed. But I don't really mind that. No weird smell. Would buy again. Very happy with this purchase.

I have no idea whether this umbrella works to block UV rays or not or if it stands up to weather because I never actually used it. When I received it I took it out of the package and opened it. First thing I noticed was it seemed to be made out of the same material as all other umbrellas I've owed, wasn't sure it was actually UV or spf 50 like it states, but I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and wait till I tried it out before making that judgement. My problem with this umbrella came when I tried to close it. I pulled down on it just like anyone would normally do but it wouldn't snap into place. I kept trying as hard as I could and still wouldn't click closed. I just eased up on the pressure I was using to keep it closed and the thing snapped back open with so much force it nearly took off my finger. Despite the fact that there are no sharp edges it sliced a good 2" cut in my finger that I thought was going to need stitches. Thankfully I was able to stop the bleeding and didn't end up in the ER. Needless to say I'm returning this and not taking a chance of getting hurt worse! This is a very poorly designed umbrella and I would never recommend it to anyone!

I've gone through many a UV umbrella when living in Asia, most of which did not last a year. UV umbrellas built like this one generally last a lot longer, but there are some things to keep in mind - it is a bit longer than others when collapsed, opening & closing it is quite loud (I once startled someone when I closed my umbrella next to her) and you have to use quite a bit of force to collapse it (I place the handle against my stomach and push it inwards). Well worth it though as it is much sturdier than others.
