****I am a product tester for Bates Choice and receive many items from the company, including these foam paintbrushes. That having been said, I am still very honest about my reviews and try to help people considering buying these things, and try to write reviews in a way that helps me when I'm looking to buy (or avoid) certain products.****Bates Choice has sent me many things to test out, and among those things they've sent me many of their foam brushes. I love these! I really like how these work with stain - they hold quite a bit of stain in the foam and it's easy to control the flow of staining depending on how hard or soft you press down. In general I prefer bristled brushes for painting, but these are great for jamming paint into small corners and holes in wood. A friend of mine and I make Bigfoots out of plywood to sell, and these foam brushes are a wonderful tool to reach the nooks and crannies of the wood (I don't know what a "nook" or "crannie" is, but trust me, it reaches them). One negative thing I've found is that the foam head can pull off of the handle a little more easily than it should, but when it does it's usually because I'm violently jabbing and literally lose my head in the process. They stay on well for more normal painting, so it's not really an issue. I do like that when I've mashed the sponge into oblivion that I can collect the dowel handles and build small log cabin birdhouses with them. I use my hot glue gun to fix the heads on that I really don't want coming off during one of my stabbing sprees.Brass tacks:•Great value!•Many different sizes for various jobs.•They don't leave tracks like bristled brushes - I've painted against the grain with these to test and I can't tell when it's dry what direction I painted.•Decent for paint, but particularly good for stains and spreading wood glue.Another five-star item from Bates Choice that I highly recommend.

As I teach painting classes I go through a lot of these brushes and needed a cheaper outlet than even the stores. These are exactly what I would get in local hardware or in big box store and much better price as you are buying a large quantity. For what I use them and the low price point I don't bother trying to wash out and reuse but they would work for that. They are soft and pliable just as expected.

These are awesome sponge brushes. Each one holds up well and is a perfect width for painting cabinets. I did my whole kitchen and loved using these. I did wash them out from time to time, which was easy, but I used a lot of them once and then threw them away. These sponges are not meant to be used over and over again. They do wear out after a good period of use. They put on paint smoothly and gently, though. They fit into the mouth of a quart size can to pick up paint.

Theses foam sponges are good quality and work well for the price, but as other reviews pointed out the foam sponges do come off rather easily after verify little use. I end up having to use a little bit of super glue to put them back on. Once I do that they stay on much better.

Worked as a foam brush should. Held up to washing. I'd say they are reusable, but only a few times as the foam will eventually start tearing.

I used these the other day with some lacquer and it held up nicely . I have used the dollar store cheap ones and walmart ones and those disintegrated on me leaving little black fuzzies on my project. These are much better for a one time use as I was able to apply 2nd coat a few hours later with the same brush.

I used these Bates foam brushes to apply a oil based varnish/stain and then a clear topcoat. They hold the finish well and apply it evenly for a streak free look. The foam didn’t break apart but maintained its size and shape even after three paint thinner cleanings. They are a great product at a great price!

I used this for 150 kids doing crafts for a week. They held up nicely, no breakage, no falling apart.

I originally purchased a cheaper brand, and found little black foam pieces were coming loose in my polyurethane, which ruined my project. I purchased these instead, which were slightly higher price. They have been fantastic, and a huge increase in value and quality over the other brushes I tried. Even though they are designed for single use (I believe), I have used them over and over for poly after a soap and water rinse, and I haven't had to throw one out yet. Would definitely buy again, and highly recommend.
