I usually buy Bates Ultralites and I couldn't find them in stock anywhere (not sure if discontinued) but bought these instead. I wear them daily as a patrol officer and I hate them. The padding makes them always uncomfortable. The zipper has a sewn section in between that makes them hard to put on. I spent money so I'm going to wear them until they wear out but it's misery on my feet. Do not recommend.

When I first put these on I thought they were a little too snug, but I walked around in them for a bit and they might be the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. Ordered the 12 "extra wide" but I can't say they're really extra wide. They're wide at best, but wide enough for my feet. Grip is good and they look good. Haven't tested the waterproofing yet, but they seem capable of keeping my feet dry.

Very comfortable boots however I normally wear a 8.5 US size. I ordered a 9.0 and I should have ordered a 9.5. Once I get them on though.... they are great!

I have been wearing these boots non-stop for about 5 months and even use them as my work boots. They have been worn in snow, swamps, and in cities and they are holding up just fine. They have some wear and tear but that is to be expected. Regardless, they have remained water proof and I have crossed rivers successfully with dry feet. The Vibram soles are definitely a plus being more grippy and durable compared to my other pair of Bates. The only vice I have against the boot is the heels; the leather bunches up whenever I move my feet leading to wrinkling and harder to polish. Besides that, these have become my favorite boots from Bates and I look forward to buying another pair once my current ones die.Edit: Been about a year now and the boots are still going strong. They definitely look worn but they are still functional with the waterproofing and no big signs of it falling apart yet. I have worn them everyday non-stop whether it was for work, hiking, or just casually walking around. The Vibram soles are a beast since they have not worn down yet. Still highly recommend.

Bad Fit. I couldn't get it on easily. And it was too tight on my foot and Leg. I will just go with my normal Bates. 10 1/2 Wide. Those are Perfect Fit. But, They wear out in a year. Either the heel and/or the side would blow out. But, I would get at least a year of use.

I’ve had a really good experience with the Bates GX series boots so far. I wanted to give these a whirl because I like the way that they look. They’re every bit as good as the GX-8’s So far. They even have a few advantages over them like more flexibility in the gusset when you open the boot at the zipper. Definitely if I have service so far if that changes this time moves forward I’ll update this.

I got these Bates boots in Size 14M for my size 14.5-ish and somewhat wide feet. These boots were clearly well made and were quite comfortable except just too narrow for me. Had to send them back, but really wish they fit (perhaps size 14W will come back to Amazon)

These are 100% not extra wide boots as ordered. Also they are extremely hard to get on and off.

A little stiff than other side zip boots that I’ve owned in the past, but they will break in over time. Quality is top notch though. Vibram soles are the main reason I bought them as they last far longer than synthetic ones.
