i haven’t bought bates in approx 10 years, i decided to give them another shot. i shouldn’t have. i have been wearing this pair since 10/29/24 and i am already seeing a split at the the top of the sole on both shoes. i will say they are fairly comfortable but there is no finger loop on the ankle to help pull them on.

If you buy them, get them from a store you can get a warranty with. I love Bates brand boots and never have had an issue until now. I work in law enforcement, so these are worn almost every day. I bought them in May, it's now August, and the sole is coming apart. I can't even return them.

I bought these shoes for work 10/28 and wore them on my 24hr shift 10/29. When trying to zip them up my left zipper ripped off completely. My partner has the same boots and the same thing happened to her within 3 days. They are very comfortable and give nice support on the ankle. Just wish the zippers were more durable.

I have been hunting for proper winter boots to serve as something lighter than my steel-toed Chips. I have bought and returned 7 pairs of boots now, but these are heaven!Fit is true to size. I wear a 9 1/2 - 10 and bought a 10. The width is great even for my slightly wider feet. The foot bed is very comfortable. It's removable in case you want to BYO insole, and the padding around the ankle and collar are exceptional.Design is nice too. They aren't going to win you any fashion awards and are not "cute" but they are stylish and sleek. Leather is a good weight and not thin at all.I am taking off one star because of the strap over the zipper which is really useless and the fact that I can not use the zipper alone to take these on and off; I still have to unlace to get my foot free.I'm a big fan of Bates as is my husband and these are fabulous. They are a little pricey, but so far seem worth it. As I got them today, I will update this review after proper wear.

I normally wear size 8.5, maybe size 9 if the shoe runs small. I ordered both as part of "Amazon Try Before you Buy". Both sizes did not fit my feet. I attempted to try and use the size 9 but the shoe felt like it was going to break my ankle.I'm sure that overall the quality of the boots is fine. I'm a big fan of Bates boots (used them for over 7 years) but the disparity in the sizing is disappointing.I ended up going with the Tactical Sport 2. If I'm going to wear a improperly measured shoe, it might as well be 50 dollars cheaper.
