I have one of these and two of the 2 channel compressors. To save time, I use this on 4 drum mics via channel inserts. This thing has the ability to absolutely smash tracks with compression. I use this on the kick, snare, and two overheads. As it has the ability to smash tracks, a little bit goes a long way. Too heavy handed and this like any other compressor will lead to pumpy, fake sounding, thin recordings. All in all for the price and features, and fact that it has been totally reliable for years now, I give it 5 stars easy.

Today I got bit by the failure issue. Loud sound and smelled smoke. It worked pretty well for the last 4 years. It lived in my home studio all 4 years.

I was going through my things and came across this, still lying in wait for repair -- right where I left it a year and a half ago. I had entirely forgotten about it.When it worked, it did a decent job. Just for totally amateur recording & fun. It worked about 5-6 months and then just stopped. No magic smoke, fuse is still in tact. Just stopped one day. I was still beyond the window for returning the thing when it happened. As I said, I liked it while it lasted. No clue what happened. I have other equipment by Behringer that continues working, so I'm not writing off the manufacturer.. Perhaps I just drew the short end of the stick.

My unit lived a perfect and peaceful life on my studio desktop, then today it sent out a LOUD buzzing sound and gave up the purple smoke after only 9 months.

Burned up after 2.5 yrsWas using it during a Twitch cast one day and suddenly BRRAAAAA this crazy loud sound came rumbling through my mixer's headphones, and smoke started coming from the compressor. Freaked me out! It's my first compressor, so I have no idea how long these things last, but all I ever did was just use it in normal conditions. It sat on my computer desk, in my cool air conditioned room. Then it fried itself. I don't think that's suppose to happen O_OOther than that, it was great while it lasted, but I don't suggest buying this considering a couple other reviews complaining of the same exact problem.

if you use it in a studio environment it will probably serve you okay, but if you travel with it, it will eventually let you down -- I've had 2 of these units fail on me after a couple years use...my DBX units have never let me down. I have had good overall success w/ Behringer audio, but not their compressors...again if you are running mobile sound, look elsewhere...for a home or project studio, you should be fine

This unit worked well before it died but I would not buy it again.
