Why need it?
- Once there is too much water in the brake fluid, the pressure transmission will no longer function. Therefore, for driving safety, we need to regularly check the proportion of water in the brake fluid, which can help you check the brake fluid regularly to ensure that you are driving in a safe driving state.
- The brake fluid detector can measure the water content of the brake fluid and determine whether the brake fluid needs to be replaced. It is designed for checking the health of DOT-3, DOT-4, DOT-5.1 brake fluids and most synthetic brake fluids.
Operation Manual:
- 1. Install one pcs of 9V(6F22) battery at the back of tester.
- 2. After inserting the battery, press POWER button to turn on the tester, all analog bars turns off with buzzer sounding, indicates the product self-test is successfully finished.
- 3. Press DOT3, DOT4, DOT5.1 button to switch brake fluid type to test.
- 4. Get the probe into brake fluid, At this moment, the number of analog bars shows the water ratio in the liquid. When the water ratio is more than 3%, the LCD screen backlight will turn red, and the buzzer will alarm that the brake fluid needs to be replaced.
- 5. Press POWER button to turn off the tester.

Seems like a good product. I use it in my motorcycle shop to test brake fluid. Works good. I like it because it shows exactly what percentage of water is in the brake fluid, rather than just telling a customer that he needs to change his fluid, now I can show proof as to why he definitely needs to change it. It adds credibility to my recommendations.

9v battery sold separately. That aside, the unit powers up and audibly lets you know it's ready. It is easy to see when the fluid is entering a dangerous level due to the bright front panel LEDs. Changing modes is as quick as a single button press. It's light in your hand despite the size of the body filling your hand. Even will oily hands I don't have to worry about it slipping from my grasp and breaking on the ground or disappearing into a void in an engine bay. I use this tool on every multi-point inspection that comes into my bay. With a 9v battery it lasts longer than the AA equipped tool truck unit at the shop.

In an article, I saw a reference to testing your brake fluid for water content to determine if it needed to be changed. I figured the test equipment to do this might be quite expensive, but went ahead and checked on Amazon to see what was available. I found the Beley Brake Fluid Tester, liked the design, checked the reviews (mostly quite good), and best of all found the price much less than I had anticipated. After some consideration, I ordered the LED version. It arrived a few days ago and I've since had a chance to play with it. I'm really quite pleased with it's performance. I tried the probe in new brake fluid and it gave me a .1% reading and again testing straight water....the alarm sounded and the lights indicated greater than 4% water content (the highest reading possible). Next day I checked the brake fluid in my car and got a 2.5% reading (in the yellow zone). Which is exactly what I had expected based on the time since the last change, but it was nice to have firm confirmation and know I'm not yet in the red danger zone.....although, I have to say, once the weather improves, a brake fluid flush is definitely on my schedule. At this point, I highly recommend this brake fluid tester.

I bought the LED version. The probe was a little too large for the vehicle I initially wanted to test. I tried to use it on a Nissan truck with the reservoir filled to halfway between MIN and MAX lines. Opening the reservoir cap, there was a removable strainer. Below the strainer was a slot in the plastic reservoir that was too narrow to allow the probe to contact the brake fluid. The unbendable portion of the probe is approximately 0.47 inches in diameter by 3.8 inches long. I deducted a star because I was not able to get any reading on my vehicle. I plan to fill to near the max line with new fluid and see if I can get a reading then. Of course, I will probably need to use the brakes for a week or so to allow the new fluid to mix with the old.I found an open but unused plastic bottle of DOT 3 fluid that is an estimated 20 years old. The meter read 1.5% moisture on it, which is about what I expected.Overall, it looks like a solid tester if the probe will work with your vehicle(s). I'm glad I bought the LED version.

Product looked as depicted in the ad. Was easy to use. Tested it on new brake fluid and then on several cars of different ages and readings were as expected.

Device does it’s own self-test when it’s turned on. It failed its own test and never entered its operational mode. At least, the tester let me know it was faulty!For the price, I’ll look elsewhere. Sent the unit back for a refund. Had a brake job to do and couldn’t wait on a replacement.

Not sure about the accuracy because it just lights up when the water content is in a certain range. However, it is very easy to use and perfectly OK for telling you when you need to change your brake fluid. Good product.
