This thermometer is very good: accurate and fast readings. Comes with long wire with a reliable* sensor (if well placed) in the end. The inside reader includes a AAA battery, so no other power source required. It has F and C, In and Out temperatures.*NOTE: The instructions recommend to install the sensor is inside the door frame attached to the metallic structure of the car. Nothing more WRONG!!!! If you attach a temperature sensor to a metal you will get wrong readings, specially in the summer when the metal will hit up under the sun, giving you readings over 140F!Most car makers put these king of sensors inside the side mirrors of the car. This is the best place, as most of the times is made of plastic, far away enough from the asphalt, and the air will flow through it easily. If you can't put inside the side mirror, you should avoid metallic parts, the motor heat, and the road heat as well. The other place you can consider is behind the front bumper, but try to place it as much as you can away from the ground (the asphalt heat in the summer will bias the readings). Also possible is behind the car front vent, although this will give you wrong readings when the car is not moving, as the motor heated air will reach it. But when moving the readings are exact. To conclude the best place are the side mirrors, or other plastic places away from the motor and the ground, with no direct sunlight.I used hot glue to install the sensor and the wire.Works perfect.

Nice size for the dash, however the light doesn't work, and twice the inside temp showing us 130 degrees! I replaced the battery, and so far the temp is okay, but light still doesn't work.

4 things lead me to a single star, "I hate it": 1) it's been very hard to find a suitable spot for the outside temperature sensor. I have this in a toyota tacoma. I've tried under the front quarter panel (gets too hot from engine), under the door (wild readings) and under the wing window, which, if in the sun, heats up to ludicrous temperatures (120 on a 65 degree day). There is no guidance about where to place the sensor. 2) it's very hard to move the switch between clock, inside temp and outside temp. 3) after 3 months, the switch stopped working. Sometimes I can only get the clock. Sometimes, if I work the switch back and forth, I can get the inside temperature. I haven't seen the outside temperature in 6 months. broken. 4) the back light is worthless - doesn't allow one to read the LCD at all. Just not a very good product and it didn't last very long. I highly recommend that you find a product not manufactured by Bell Automotive.

Good product for only a couple of bucks. Easy to install on any vehicle, the wire is nice and long. I have the unit on my rearview mirror and the sensor is all the way at the back of my vehicle on the outside. Having it light up is nice. The only thing is I'm not sure it's extremely accurate. It's usually within 10 degrees of what my phone says it is though. You also have to factor in if it's been sitting in the sun, shade, etc. It seems to get closer to the actual temp once you start driving around. The instructions suggest mounting the sensor in your door jam by the hinge, but then it's not exposed to the actual outside and was saying it was 40 degrees outside and it was actually around zero outside, so I decided to move it to the outside of my vehicle and it changed drastically for the better. It's pretty unnoticable, but the sensor sticker is white so that kind of sticks out on a black vehicle. Otherwise, it's a good product for the price! I'd recommend it for any vehicle without a thermometer (still can't believe mine wasn't equipped with one).

I already had my door panel off when I bought this. Ran it under my dash panel and out to the drivers side door. I used a piece of packing foam to insulate the sensor from the metal door. Zip tied it in and Viola! Took about 10 mins with panel off.1996 Chevy Silverado

The cons the back light on the lcd screen on my unit does not work it shorts something out in the unit and you have to take the battery out and put it back in again to get the display to work the multi switch is finicky and feels like it will stop working at anytimeThe Pros the unit is easy to read "if it does work" installation is super easy it took me 5 mins to install and the cable for the temp sensor on it is super long

This is the second one of these I have had. The first one lasted years and stayed on the truck when I traded it in still working. This one didn't have the quality as the first, didn't stay on, and didn't give accurate readings. The time surprisingly stayed correct. The wire is extremely long and you can place it just about anywhere on your car or truck. I placed it in the door jam and it stayed put not moving at all. The exterior temperature didn't seem accurate comparing it to banks and drug stores. Inside seemed to read a bit cooler. For the price, you cant expect top quality.

I had a requirement to determine if the engine rectifier/regulator on a airplane was overheating during ground operations and in flight. The Bell Automotive 22-1-2800 unit met my need. I taped the sensor to the rectifier/regulator in the engine compartment then routed the wire linking the sensor to the digital read out unit positioned in the cockpit. The thermometer provided the data I needed at a very nominal cost.

This sort of thermometer used to be available at every gas station and auto parts store, but they've almost gone extinct (probably because so many new cars have build in thermometers) When I wanted something like this to put in my teardrop trailer it took a lot of searching to find this, but it's the same model I've had in 2 previous cars, and I've always really liked it!

Accurate temperature readings, easy to install and easy to read. The only problem is that it is not waterproof. Looks great on my Harley.

I was hoping for the best with this thing. The clock works but the inside and outside temperature is way off. It shows much warmer then the actual temperature.I installed it correctly and put in a new battery
