I bought 2 of these. The lid is a tight fit and the disk drives fit very snugly in the case. 2 foam pads are included to prevent any movement of the disk in the case. It uses a J-Micron model 853 IC which was introduced quite a while back and works very well. Your data transfer speed is strictly limited by your hard disk and PC's USB port, not this device.

I was looking for an enclosure that will work with a Raspberry Pi 4 for my Home Assistant installation. This enclosure worked out just fine. Being a plastic enclosure and not metal, it seems a little flimsy, but for my purpose, it does not really matter, as long as it works. For the price, this really fits the bill for what I need. The box is attractive and is easy to open/close. Installation of a SSD is a breeze. Highly recommend.

I had a few spare ssds lying around, and I wanted to use them to transfer files quickly from computer to computer. I had been using "fast" usb keys but they only top out at like 100-150 mbps, which is only slightly better than I get transferring files directly over gigabit ethernet. Decided to try this instead of upgrading to 10 or 40gb networking, and it works very well. Over a 5gb usb port I get around 400mbps (as expected) and with a 10gbps port I get closer to 550 (on par with the drive directly connected to a sata 3 port). Only complaint is the usb cable seems to only do usb 2 speeds when using the usb A adapter in one specific direction, but not really a big complaint since I just need to ensure to put it in the right direction (the obvious direction to put it in).

Avevo un disco meccanico SATA messo da parte, tolto da un vecchio portatile per sostituirlo con un SSD e grazie a questa custodia sono riuscito a recuperarlo ottenendo così nuovo spazio per archiviare i miei file e le mie foto (nel mio caso la velocità non importa perché lo uso come archivio).L'installazione è semplicissima e non richiede nemmeno un cacciavite, basta aprire il case, eventualmente installare uno dei due pad (se necessario, a seconda del tipo e spessore del disco) e poi richiudere il tutto e il gioco è fatto. Il disco viene riconosciuto automaticamente da Windows e, partizionamento e formattazione a parte, è subito pronto per l'uso.Il case supporta anche il protocollo UASP SATA III (che però oramai è comune nei case di questo tipo) per migliorare la velocità di trasferimento delle USB normali ed è fornito con relativo cavetto USB (da USB-A a USB-C). Il cavetto è piuttosto corto ma è l'ideale per collegarlo alle prese frontali del PC.L'unico aspetto negativo è che il case è interamente in plastica e non credo offra grandi protezioni da cadute.
