Love using this sphagnum moss for my second chance prop box (my propagations from wet sticks). At first glance it might look somewhat small but this package has a good amount of moss to last you a while as it expands a bit when you add water. The moss is tan/brownish in color, is good quality, very absorbent and great at keeping humidity around your plants that love moisture. It’s also great because even though it holds on to water, the moss’ antifungal/antibacterial properties keep it from smelling. It always kind of smells like a nice earthy smell.

This moss is wonderful! I run a small plant business and customers always ask what kind of moss I use. I’ve had difficulty finding a quality moss but this moss is my favorite and comes at a wonderful price! The size/quality is great for the price and comes nicely compacted. The colors look vibrant and it doesn’t mold. The most important part is my plants love it and stay healthy!

Don’t waste your money on other brands or sphagnum moss advertised specifically for reptiles. I use this in all my orchids and also in my reptile enclosures that need to kept humid.

I was able to repot 12+ orchids with one package of this stuff. It's good quality, perhaps not as premium as other brands but it absolutely does the job and orchids are happy. It's quite dusty though so be prepared for a bit of a mess when opening it, doing it outside is a good idea. Adding a thin layer of orchid bark on top is also needed to avoid having too much algae.I would repurchase this.

At first, I questioned the size for money, but once you soak chunks in water the size expands amazingly! I would buy again, nice material! I used it for transplanting 5 orchid plants and all the plants are doing well still. And, I have LOTS LEFT!!! I have enough I think for another transplant the five plants again in the fall. And, my land snail has always walked around on dirt. Now, with this moss base, that snail enjoys cruising around even more I think because the substrate is softer and cleaner. And, the snail can snuggle into the moss better than dirt!
