I have been fishing and scaling for decades, and this tool blew me away. So much better than the old aluminum teardrop scalers, or serrated knives, or beer tabs, or bottle caps, etc. It takes off the scales in little sheets so causes minimal mess. The sheets just sort of drop to the side versus tiny scales flying everywhere. Also gets those difficult scales around the fins, spine, and stomach. Easy to clean, sturdy, effective.

I bought one of these over 30 years ago and it still works pretty good, but the edges are worn from scaling thousands of bluegills over that time. I wanted a new one plus another so my husband could help me scale the bluegills if we caught a lot. The brand is moulded into the handle, so I did a search and was surprised that they are still being made! These are the BEST fish scaler ever made IMO. It makes quick work of scaling bluegills and other similar panfish and bass. It doesn’t work as well on fish that have small, soft scales like Perch, but it will still work. Highly recommended!

Fish scales come off easily and neatly; most importantly, they don’t fly everywhere. The simple design is also super easy to clean. Easily my favorite among the numerous fish scalers in my drawer.Elegant in its design and simplicity - nicely done.

The fish scaler works well. I like the design and the thumb rest. I used it on a few pan fish and it worked good on the small blue gill as it did on the larger fish that I caught. For the price, you can't go wrong.

These are easy to use on freshwater fish and help with hand fatigue. They probably would not be great on big fish with bigger scales.
