The threads in these knobs seem to be the smoothest operating threads I've ever felt in a star style knob. Thread it on to the bolt/stud and spin it ONCE and it essentially threads itself all the way on to the bolt. Much smoother than the threads in a HiLift locking knob or any of the similar 3/8-16 knobs I've got. Smoother than a hex nut or wing nut. I use this gizmo as the "second" nut on a HiLift, axe/shovel, or other pioneer tool mount. One locking, one like this. Works great. Doesn't seize. Arizona UV doesn't even seem to degrade it as much as some plastics.Thanks - Lumpy

Secured a 1.25" modified steel square tube to my truck bed. Drilled another hole up by the tie-down hole above the wheelwell and inserted a bolt from the inside. Using this product and a couple washers I was able to secure my harbor freight floor jack to the bed wall right on top of the wheelwell. A mounting bracket is a couple hundred, my 10 dollar fix works well, giving me easy access and out of the way storage for my exhorbently overweight floor jack.

Bought these to make a custom mount for my traction/recovery boards on my truck topper. Since the boards won't be on there 24/7 I wanted something to make it easy to get them on and off when needed. These worked out perfect so far. They'll be tested more next week on a 6 day trip to Moab and will update this review if there's any issues with them falling off or coming loose.12/11/2020 UPDATE:I noticed on the Moab trip that these would come loose a little. Not to the point there was separation from the recovery boards, just that they were not as tight at the end of the day as they were in the morning. I fixed that by slipping on a lock washer between the recovery board and the knobs. Issue is fixed and they've yet to come loose again.

Hard to find product. Work as described. Using 4 knobs to hold a set of x-Bull traction boards to a Thule roof bar system on a Jeep with a custom bracket. 250 mile round trip including off-road abuse and they did not loosen at all. Good stuff.

Big Horn 19709B-5PK 5 Star Thru Knob 3/8 x 16I've used 10 of these knobs on various projects. They are outstanding. Well constructed, well designed with a brass threaded insert, and easy to grip for tightening.I also “converted†two Big Horn knobs to "clamping knobs" by screwing in 2" long 3/8" x 16 stainless steel socket head cap screws into the knob (and tightening with an Allen wrench), as shown in the Customer Image.

I have used several others of this type. These are WAY better. Slightly larger, better impregnated threads, doesn't feel like it is going to break when tightening. I painted one red and use them for my batteries. Perfect thread insert because it slightly sticks out on the flat end...for better electrical contact.

My fault, I did did not realise that the (x16) meant is eas a coarse thread.I want to use them on a 3/8" fine ....... but I will use latter on.Other than that, great product.

Worked as required. Threafs a but loose, but not enough to effect the use for tensioning wood working jigs. Good finish, good value for the money.
