Fatwood is entirely unique from traditional kindling in the way that it is completely waterproof and will light under any conditions! The high resin content means that you just need to hold a flame against the stick for a couple of seconds to light it. Even if fatwood gets rained on while burning, it will still stay alight.

Our fatwood is made from 100% natural wood. There are no added chemicals to make the wood burn so amazingly well! This is made possible by the very high content of resin in the fatwood. This occurs totally naturally in the stumps of a specific species of dead pine trees
No Live Trees are Harmed
Fatwood is harvested from the stumps of dead trees in Mexico. We ensure that no live trees are harmed in the making of the Billy Buck Skin Co. line of fatwood. The trees used for fatwood are non-endangered pines that have already been harvested by logging companies.
Start Fires Anywhere
With just 2 sticks of fatwood, you can start a fire anywhere! Fatwood fire starters work just as well in your indoor fireplace as they do on a camp site firepit! Do you struggle lighting charcoal? Try using fatwood combined with a fire chimney to get your charcoal burning quickly!
Burns Even When Wet
Due to the high resin content, fatwood is naturally resistant to water and to rot. It is generally best to store your fatwood in a dry place, but it does not affect its fire starting abilities if it gets wet. No chemicals are added to make fatwood waterproof.

I used the fatwood fireplace starter sticks for, wait for it, starting a log fire in my fireplace. Got them before as a Xmas present a few years ago, so went for them again, good price, got here in good time, and they work really well when starting or rekindling a fireplace fire.

This was a great purchase. The bag stores the pieces next to the fireplace and looks really cute. Plenty of pieces to start your fires for a couple of years at least. Fires get going right away. Highly recommend. I will be purchasing again.

Easy to light and gets the job done well, will create black smoke but the smell is incredible and definitely worth the money. Great find!

Warning label is concerning but works well, Ca laws are different from other states and I’m not positive that wood dust causes cancer

Fires in our wood stove are SO much easier to get going with these sticks. Have been using for a few years.
