Perfect for my 8-year-old. She is still too young for toe training. They recommend after their feet are done growing. However, she just wears them every once in a while for fun, and she LOVES them! My only complaint would be that they were a tiny bit too snug around the top of her foot. Really hard to put on. The actual foot size seems to be just right though.

My 5 year old has been begging for point shoes. We gave these to her as a gift. Upon opening the package we discovered they give you one ribbon that you have to cut in half and attach yourself. After an hour of our daughter wearing the shoes the leather soles started peeling away on the bottom of the shoes. The padded inserts that come with the shoes are sewn together on the sides. The thread started unraveling on one side right away. I would not recommend these shoes.
