I had a Bissell for about 5 years that stopped working. I guess maybe it was a clogged brush roller or broken belt.I did a ton of research on a new vacuum cleaner. As usual, there are always mixed reviews. I decided on this one because of the pet hair issue. We have 3 cats and the amount of hair that needs to be vacuumed is ridiculous. We recently had the carpet removed from the stairs, which was always difficult to clean.Today was the first use of this vacuum cleaner, and let me tell you, it's a great cleaner! Easy to assemble, much lighter than the previous one, suction is phenomenal, and so easy to use.I forgot it was a swivel type, and although I wasn't looking for that feature, it really is helpful. I like the power switch being close to the top, and the ability to turn off the roller is great for cleaning area rugs that can get sucked up. It even sucked up a cat toy by accident and was very easy to remove.I have a bad back, but this is very easy to use without any pain. The light definitely helps a lot too.I can't believe how much of a difference it made after just one use! The canister was full after just doing 2 rooms!Cleaning the machine is a breeze. Everything swirls around the center of the canister, and just falls out into the trash bag without having to pull it out like my last one.The cord rewinder would have been a nice feature, but that's about the only thing missing on this. Oh and the pet hair attachment is way more powerful than the previous one. Easy to clean that, too. Plus the HEPA filter is a definite necessity.All in all, I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner for everyone!Good job, Bissell!

This purchase was to replace the old vacuum and boy what a difference. I had just vacuumed the house with the old vacuum the day before the new one arrived. It picked up so much that the old one left and I am very pleased with it. It is lightweight and really easy to maneuver and can turn a tight corner. The main reason I selected this model was the HEPA filtration and it seems to work really well. Great purchase - I highly recommend it!

Initial impressions after replacing my 15 year old Kenmore clunker. PROS: light in weight, super easy to assemble, seems to have good suction, easy controls, nice handle for carrying, pod removal is a good feature, bagless but seems fairly easy to clean, no hitches so far. CONS: cord is too short, you literally have to switch the plug to different outlets to reach all areas on a floor (that's the main reason I didn't give it 5 stars); swivel steering takes a while to get used to; the detachable brush for cleaning small places is anemic, I'll wear that sucker out in a few months. Let's hope it lasts as long as the Kenmore.

If you're anything like me, I was scavenging Amazon looking for THE BEST carpet cleaner for the best price and best reviews when I came across this great piece. While it is a little bit small it gets the job done! It is SO easy to use and even easier to clean out afterwards. I fully believe it is the best value for your money. It does a great job! I was surprised with the suction power. It picks up most of the water and with a few passes with the warm air blowing on it it the carpet drys really quickly. I love how it's designed and the ease of getting rid of the dirty water and cleaning it up before putting away! I would definitely recommend if you're on the fence about wether to order or not. I would choose this model over and over!

Honestly, posting the picture showing the nastiness this stuff pulled up from my house is embarrassing, but it’s the best way to show just how incredible this machine is. We rent, and have a carpeted living room (which is the worst). I’ve spent the last 4 years “vacuuming†that carpet (and the rest of the house) with another cheap corded vacuum I’ve had for years and a robotic shark vacuum that was like triple the price of this Bissell, but didn’t realize how little cleaning was actually happening all this time. I’ve become been a huge Bissell fan as I now have one of their hard floor steam mops, one of their carpet cleaners and their little green cleaner. I’ve been so impressed with all of them so I decided to step up my vacuum game, sticking with Bissell brand of course. Not to mention, finding out from our vet that our dog has some pretty bad allergies to dust mites, it made me get curious about how my “clean†house could possibly have dust mites. I didn't even think about how many dust mites likely live in the living room carpet. But I thought, "I vacuum and dust constantly, it can't be that bad!!" Well, I was horribly wrong. This machine literally opened my eyes and had me kicking myself for not buying a more powerful vacuum like this one sooner. I always thought I’d want cordless vacuums but I’ve found that cordless isn’t always better…The vacuum is easy to assemble and easy to maneuver too. It is powerful obviously (see pictures) and the light feature is amazing. You’d be surprised (and probably grossed out in the best way like I was) by the amount of hair and other junk the floor that the lights enable you to see. The attachments are handy as well as I’ve already used both of them multiple times. And the machine as a whole is not super heavy whatsoever; I can pick it up with ease.Overall, this vacuum has blown me away; my dogs itching and sneezing has already calmed down significantly. Our house smells better too after a deep clean with our carpet cleaner and multiple rounds of vacuuming with this! I love supporting Bissell and the work they do for animals in need. For that reason (amongst many others) I’ll never buy from another brand. Don’t wait like I did, buy it now!!

I'm not someone who usually likes to write about anything and therfore writing a review is not my top list of prioritiesHowever I felt I had to take a few minutes to share my experience with the Bissell 2998 VacuumI absolutely love this vacuum. I'm a long time loyal fan and customer of BissellThis new vacuum that I recently purchased with Amazon is amazing. First a huge thank you to Amazon for making the purchase affordable for customers with their payment planThis vacuum has above all superior suction power. It is not as noisy as my previous vacuums. It maneuvers quite well. Numerous options for the maneuvering.It's pretty much a lightweight vacuum.What I want to point out is that there's LED Lights built in the vacuum at the frontI have a degenerative eye condition and I have to say this feature is very important for me and I am very happy with Bissell for having this featureI am totally satisfied with my purchase

First off, this vacuum is probably one of the best vacuums I’ve owned in the sense that it does a great job picking up. We have 2 German Shepherds and when they shed, they SHED and this vacuum makes very short work of all the fur that’s left behind.The reason I do NOT recommend it: The unfortunate part and the reason I’m returning it is after only a week and a half of using it I’ve had to untangle it twice, the first time was with the pet tool and the second was with the main beater bar assembly which was so bad that it stopped, began smelling and when I disassembled it to remove the tangle I found that part of the beater bar assembly had melted.The vacuum itself is great, does a great job but there is a design flaw and hopefully Bissell can get this rectified because it definitely has potential of being fantastic!

Quite impressive. I have 3 different vacuums ( one for each floor) which were quite expensive. This is my preference and works the best. I didn’t think the light would matter and by golly. It hits the places I missed by my previous vacuum and I thought I was being thorough.
