We needed to dismantle our deck and were really struggling to get the deck boards up with just the crowbar (short and long) and didn't want to cut the boards in pieces with a saw. I saw this Pallet Buster Tool being used to pull up deck boards on a YouTube video that seemed to work well and decided to try it. Wow, it made a world of difference. Don't get me wrong, it is a strenuous task but my husband was able to get all the deck boards pulled up in just a couple of hours whereas just a single board was taking that long with the crowbar. This tool is heavy and held up well to the task. The design was very conducive to pulling boards and was easy to use. I'm still giving this 5 stars but my husband did mention that the handle design wasn't great. It was ribbed and kept twisting on him making it more difficult than had it remained in place and was making his hands sore. That being said, this was a very useful tool and definitely worth the money for the time and effort it saved us. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone needing to dismantle a deck. So glad for this purchase.

This tool works very well. Does its job. Sometimes requires a little muscle on some of the harder woods. But works well and very happy with it.

This Deck Wrecker tool allowed me to remove the old deck boards so I could replace with new 5/4" treated deck boards. I'm 73 years old, slow but strong, but not like I was when younger ... Without this tool, I would not have been able to do this project. Seriously. A few years ago, I was able to use a crowbar, but, that would be impossible now. This Deck Wrecker tool is awesome. It is very heavy duty, and allowed me to remove boards without hurting myself. See the photo that I have attached. If you do this type of work or if like me, you have a project requiring the removal of deck boards ... THIS IS THE ONE ! Good luck, be safe, and enjoy !

I get pallets from my wife's work and use them for wood projects. Taking the boards off, in one piece, is a challenge. I bought this to see if it would make the job easier and maybe better. It does make it really easy for sure, but the wood splits just as much. This tool is built like a tank and will last for ever. I was going to make one, but I couldn't buy the raw steel to make it for less than this thing cost. The only weakness I found was that after just 3 pallets, the top of the plastic handle broke off!!The pivoting heads are really useful, and are the main reason I bought this design. They allow the tool to be inserted between boards that are closer together. Also, once you apply pressure, they naturally follow the board's surface and apply even pressure across its width, reducing the chance of breakage. Unfortunately, I found only the middle of the board lifts cleanly without splitting. Pallet nails are ribbed and a b**ch to pull out. So 99 times out of 100, the board is pulled over the nail heads, leaving large holes on top. This results in quite a bit of tear-out on the underside, but not a big deal for a pallet wood project. However, at the ends, where you use just one of the pivoting heads snugged up against the main rib of the pallet, the board splits as the tool pulls the board over the nail heads.I found the best process was to lever up the middle, and cut the boards short, just inside the line of nail heads, with my circular saw. This gave me the highest number of useable boards. If you just want to break a pallet down and aren't using the wood, this tool is awesome and makes the job very easy indeed. One pallet had been rebuilt with some hardwood and this tool was able to pull those boards off cleanly with the nails. Unfortunately, most pallets are made from really soft wood.On the next batch of pallets I am going to try using my reciprocating saw on the ends and this tool in the middle, where getting saw access can be limited.Do I recommend this tool? As long as you know it won't stop damaging the boards and it is just one tool in your arsenal of pallet dismantling tools, then yes. If you want to tear down an old deck, you can bet it'll work great!

I was breaking boards off of pallets instantly! This thing is great for keeping the boards from breaking. Start with the middle board then do the outers. Works great!

Bought this after I injured my hand trying to take apart pallets with a 3lb hammer, from watching other youtube videos. After splitting my thumb open and $1500 later in hospital bills, I bought the right tool for the job, should have started out this way.

I've owned 2 other pallet busters. One from Princess Auto and one from a garage sale... Both didn't last 20 pallets...This unit is solid, heavy, and you can get some good work from thos unit. It's heavy, so, it can get tiring if you don't switch jobs and work smart.Great tool.

I had a 20 year old deck, the joists are in goodshape, the deck boards needed to be replaced without damaging the joist. This worked great. Pulled up the boards and the nails.

I do not review often, but this tool merits it. This tools is fantastic. Breaks an 8 foot long pallet in less than 5 minutes without breaking a plank! Built to last a life time. Highly recommended.
