I started BJJ a few months back, and one of my gis came with a white belt. The stitching on the belt started to unravel 3 months in, so when I saw this one, I grabbed it. It feels heavier and better made than the one that came with my uniform. And so far, the stitching has held.

Most grappling belts are thicker with a bit more substance than a karate belt. This is very much a karate belt with a BJJ rank bar affixed to it. It's not bad per-se. It's not like it'll rip when grabbed or something. It's just a substantial outlier at 4mm thick. The core is incredibly soft so the belt is very pliable even before washing.It is a belt. If it is the style you want, it will serve you. From my experience with BJJ belts I would expect other belts at the same price point may have better longevity.
