I love that Black and Decker has made these smaller tools with a more at-home, crafters design to them. They don't have the look or even the feel of the typical garage tools. These really feel like they had the hobbyist in mind when they were designing them. This sander is part of the reviva line, which Black and Decker says is forecasted to repurpose over 10 million single-use plastic bottles, diverting them from oceans and landfills. Each Black and Decker reviva tool housing is made with 50% certified recycled materials.I have an in home art studio that we use for various projects, including woodworking, woodburning. painting and such. It's an area used by everyone in the family for their current projects. This line of tools is exactly what I want for this space. They have the power and work just as well of the typical garage tools, with an overall more appealing aesthetic. This detail sander works very nicely for getting into corners and up against flat surfaces. You can still use it for all the other jobs you would use an orbital sander on, but get up against flat spaces with this detail sander head on it. Overall I'm very happy with it.

I wanted to paint sections of my kitchen cabinets-around the handles-where there is a lot of wear and tear. This product did allow me to sand the area so I could repaint w/o “globs” of paint, but it required a lot of elbow grease and more grades of sandpaper that were provided.

It does work. And I thought it would be good as some detail sanding. It is. It also works as a regular sander for somewhat larger areas. Somewhat compact but big enough for two hands reasonably. It markets itself as using recycled plastic. That's nice. But what happens when this battery needs replacing? It looks like you have to take the entire sander apart to access the battery. And not in a way most consumers would be comfortable doing so. So if the battery dies, most of these will end up in the trash. But at least a small portion was already trash to begin with, right? If they really wanted to help the environment, they would've made the batteries a separate pack. Even create a program to easily send in bad battery packs for rebuilding. Provide repair parts or a simple exchange program such as pay $30, we'll send you a replacement tool, put the bad tool in this box and send back. And renew the bad tool and send to the next customer. But using 10% recycled materials as a marketing scheme just seems fake.Manufacturer packaging is poor. The pad for the sandpaper was damaged on the one I received because of poor manufacturer packaging (I added a photo of this). Another help the planet scheme or just lowest cost to pack/ship? What good is reducing packing materials to help the planet if the product is damaged in shipping? That's just creating unnecessary waste. The plug-in adapter appears to be proprietary. And it only plugs in one way. There are Chinese power tool start-ups making tools, batteries and chargers in a similar fashion BUT they're using standard center-positive jacks. Easy to plug in. And usually their batteries are removable as well. The housing on this is entirely smooth plastic. It's small enough to grip but definitely not grippy anywhere. They would've done a better job if they got a license to use standard 12V rechargeable batteries already out in the market and available and used by many. Then, they'd only be marketing a tool without creating more battery and adapter waste. Focus on making tools from a higher percentage of recycled materials and rebuild-able or renewable. The design of the handle is already conducive in size/shape to accommodate Milwaukee's or Bosch's 12V batteries. Maybe red is a bad color for them so go with Bosch's. Making a tool that isn't disposable would be best for the planet but maybe not the bottom line. I understand.Anyhow, the tool has a nice design. Works as it should. Would be just as designed if not for poor manufacturer packaging.

I really like the product itself. I'm using it to sand and smooth cut glass. However, the product came with a 6 pack of sanding pads in different grits, which I went through pretty quickly. When I tried to order more pads, I found out that this size (3 5/8) pad does not exist. The pads I am finding are either too big or too small. I even called Black and Decker directly and was told they don't make those pads anymore, which doesn't make sense since they are still selling the product with an initial 6 pack of pads included. ??? VERY frustrating, and had I known this ahead of time I would not have ordered this tool. I do NOT recommend this product, unless you want to cut pads to try to fit it.
