I installed 8-in ceiling speakers and covered them with these enclosures. I knocked out a plug in the side (there are four) and ran the wires through the side. You don't need to drill a hole. The plug is 3/4 inch, but I couldn't find a grommet that had a small hole for small speaker wires. I just used a piece of wire loom and ran the wires through it, then stuffed it with blown insulation. I sealed the enclosure to the drywall with some DAP Dynaflex 230 and put in a few short screws from the top to just hold it in place. The space above the ceiling is a cold zone, so I just covered them up with insulation. They are exactly what I wanted. The shipping was fast and I would recommend this product. (you need two, it is not a pair)

For the money should’ve had better Brackets to secure enclosure to joists but excellent build quality and great enclosure for encapsulating in wall speakers in attic

These enclosures are 12 1/2 inches from mounting hole to mounting hole. These would never work for my 8 inch speakers!

These are good quality, but they only work for very shallow speakers.
