This is my second book nook I have purchased from mini city and they are such good quality. They are by far my favorite brand I have found. This was a fun set that took me a good amount of time to complete! I love all of the details in this set. This was a more complicated book nook but it was well worth the time I spent on it. It was definitely worth the money and I look forward to buying another set from this company!

Good quality puzzle. Challenging but fun. Much more enjoyable than a jigsaw puzzle if you like something more challenging.

This kit was a lot of fun to put together, but you will need patience. It’s not something you can do in one sitting primarily because there are many items that need time for the glue to set before you can move on. The attention to detail is amazing. The instruction book is 48 full color pages long and walks through the exact order to assemble the kit. The wood cut outs are precision fit and snap together tightly. There was only one or two items that were too tight and I had to sand down the tabs with the included emery board. Some items are so thin, for example a picture frame, I thought for sure that there would be breakage, but I managed to only break one item that was easily glued into place to repair. By far, the biggest challenge was installing the handrail onto the spiral staircase. I had to walk away a couple of times before I finally got it wrap correctly. There are three sheets of clear plastic parts used for windows, chandeliers, and handrails that are covered with thin protective sheet you must remove before installing. I found that using my fingernail to peel off the covering worked best. I think there were some items that took me longer to remove the plastic covering than it took to assemble the item. The instructions are a key part of this kit and normally I wouldn’t remove a star because of instructions, but as thorough as the instructions are there are some items that are difficult to understand. There are eleven bookcases in the finished kit, six of them, the ones closest to the front, have individual books that are wood blocks with an adhesive book cover wrapped on each. The first one you build, the instructions indicate that you need 14 books per shelf X 3 shelves in a case. The next 5 cases with separate books, there is no instructions on how many books to put on a shelf. I ended up running out of books at the end so I winged it and left a blank spot and leaned a book over as if one had been removed. There’s also a bookcase ladder that I didn’t use because it was never called for. There are also two windows on the outside of the Book Nook with a clear plastic windowpane and frame for one but no mention of the second one in the instructions. I found the clear pane in the parts for the second window, but did not find a frame for it.Lastly, I ended up with a fair amount of spare and unused parts. There are some items that you can place freely, like the file boxes and extra desk lamp. Some are extra items in case you break or lose a small piece and some I decided not to use such as the teacups because they are much larger scale than the rest of the items. Then there are extra parts that I have no clue what they are or where they would go.

Fun, challenging, and worth the price. I've made these before and they are a great distraction and easy to enjoy. Well worth it.

First: Ignore the little "history lesson" inside the instruction manual. The first know "library" actually predates the CE by more than 300 years. The first recognized Public Library dates to about 300 years AD long before there were Abby's and Monks to copy books. So....don't use this Book Nook as the basis for a STEM project!None of this detracts from the beauty, and detail of this Book Nook kit.The components are high quality. And MiniCity is very responsive to customer feedback and corrects issues that come up over time. In the car of the Abby Book Nook Kit there is an insert page in the instructions with corrections and clarifications. Read through all the instructions and familiarize yourself with the boards before you get started. Take components off the board as hey are needed to avoid confusion. This is a fairly complicated book nook to put together because of all the detail and some delicate parts. A pictured they include a tool on one of the boards to aid in careful removal of the more delicate parts. ALWAYS remove parts by pressing from the back of the board towards the front. It works better due to the laser cutting process used to produce these kits. And save that little tool to use with other kit that do not include one.The kit includes tools you will need and a dust cover. Don't forget to remove the protective film from the dust cover. I see comments on reviews all the time that the dust cover was dull...that's the protective film. You need to remove that before putting the cover in place. You will need to provide glue and batteries. I recommend Aleene's Acid Free Tacky Glue for this kit. You can find it here on Amazon. Glue is not provided due to shipping restrictions. The instructions are colored pictures and include English directions and symbols in some places. The English is a bit awkwardly translated at times, but not difficult to figure out. For instance the "frosted rod" means the mall nail file provided for smoothing any remnants of the board connection spots or adjusting tabs to fit into the slots better. There is some paper detail work. Mostly sticker with a little bit of book folding which I expected in most of these library theme Book Nooks. There are some "Paintings" that are wall decorations that you are invited to place wherever it pleases you.I would consider this an advanced Intermediate to Advanced Difficulty level Book Nook. NOT for beginners. It requires time and patience, and a careful read through the instructions to get it together correctly. I'll come back and post my finished project. On pre-build inspection having read though the instructions I recommend this Book Nook Kit for any experience Miniature Crafter who is up for a guided challenge. It's labeled 14+ but know your teenager. I think most would find the instruction issues frustrating and give up.Update: I also purchased the Law Library Book Nook Kit from the MiniCity. library series Another winner. Tons of detail, high quality materials, and as always excellent instructions. If you enjoy tiny detail builds such as making books and putting together detailed inner structure you'll enjoy the Law Library Book Nook as well.
