This book contains durable, white, lined paper; 304 numbered pages of it. The paper is fountain pen friendly, so "bullet-proof" inks and registrar inks don't feather or bleed through. The ribbon book mark makes the book ideal for keeping diaries and journals. The contents pages in the front of the book are ideal for making Locke indexes. When this book fills up, I will order another one.

This journal has been in constant use for a couple of months on a consulting engagement. The lay-flat binding is perfect, along with the ruling and the quantity of pages (especially if you write a lot). I plan to replace with an identical in about a month, which appears to be when my current journal will be page-exhausted. I have never taken advantage of page numbering (which this has), as well as a built-in table of contents in the front. The journal is designed as both a useful, functional business tool and a archival record. I can heartily recommend this record book / engineering journal if your work is inclined to need these features.

I've kept log books of my work activities for many years. I've used this Boorum & Pease version for at least 20 of those years. They're hard bound, rugged, easy to read and have held up beautifully. I'll keep using them until I retire.

Cover is VERY heavy duty. Pages are sturdy also. Not thin cheap paper. The graph blocks are a lot smaller than a regular pad of graph paper. There is a red satin page marker. Also not cheap. Well worth buying. The pages are numbered and that's it. No places at bottom to fill out like a lab book. This is NOT a lab notebook. The pages cannot be torn out like a lab book.

I love these notebooks. I have used them professionally for almost 20 years. I work in laboratories and manufacturing; these notebooks are the only ones that have endured daily use and abused holding the binding perfectly. Two years ago I switched to the quad version. The paper is porous, which I love for fast note taking. My single complaint about this version is that it does not come with a book mark, like the others. I am still buying it year after year. But how I hope they read my input! Best notebooks yet, and they look so nice on my bookshelf after I finish one.

I have been using these books for years to keep record of calls with customers. They are very sturdy, fold flat, and I like the ribbon as a bookmark for the current page. I initially was hoping to index with the numbers, and that became too much work. Have not looked for a version without numbers, which might cost a bit less.I like the 300 page ones, and they last me more than half a year before they fill up.

I've been using these notebooks for four years now and here are my impressions.Aesthetically, the notebook is very pleasing. The black color with red spine/corner contrasts coupled with gold accents is a major part of this notebooks appeal. While some may dismiss looks, to me, looks are important. If I'm going to be seeing this notebook every day for the next year while I carefully and scrupulously fill in each page, I better like how it looks in my hands, on my desk, or where ever else I'm going to see it. I believe the Boorum & Pease 21300Q accomplishes this role. The paper itself is provides sufficient feedback when writing. Instead of being smooth and glossy, it's slightly coarse. This makes writing with pencils a pleasant experience (especially when contrasted with other ultra-smooth notebook papers such as those made by Clairefontaine). It's mostly flat when I write (I say "mostly" because the first and last few pages are always difficult). The numbers and grid lines are resilient to erasing and smearing, as advertised.Nevertheless, the paper doesn't always perform well with certain types of ink. In my experience, all types of ballpoint and roller ball pens are fine, however, fountain pen performance will depends on a combination of ink and nib size. As others have mentioned, watery inks coupled with larger nibs can lead to feathering. I personally write with a medium nib pen, but to avoid such issues I use dryer inks, specifically iron gall ink.

The paper is nice. it has a grid like a bullet journal. if you are a person who struggles with wasting paper I find this helps me just put something on paper and play more not worry about perfection and it keeps everything contained in a book! The journal paper is sturdy for pen and ink ( since it is an accounting book there is just a little ghosting) It takes graphite and color pencil well. and a very light wash of water or not too watery watercolor. there is some ghosting of color when doing this so know you will see some watercolor in your pencil drawing on the other side. The pages wave only a little bit but a journal like this has allowed me to be a little more free about making "bad" art or practicing on a regular basis because it isnt a journal I care about having a perfect drawing on each page. I can play and try things Thus improving my art skills.

Not to scale for a quad lined notebook. Quad is divided four 1/4 to an inch. There are five in this Quad lined records book. This is not a quad lined book. Beware!
