Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002, 4.0 engine--The alternator gods blessed me.--As usual I received my order in record time and at a price that seemed more than fair. If you are making the same repair as I did and on the same vehicle you can smile too. You will be able to replace the Brush Holder without removing the Alternator and in only about 15 minutes. My jeep has over 200 thousand miles so I was replacing the brushes as preventive maintenance. You need one 15mm socket wrench to remove two nuts on rear of alternator, one half inch socket or box end wrench to remove hot wire from Alternator and one phillips head screw driver to remove brush holder from alternator (2 screws). The phillips head screws are tight so use a good screw driver. Oh, before you start this, remove the negative battery connection. I replaced the brushes because the alternator on a previous Jeep 4.0 that I owned went out at about 245,000 miles and at a very inconvenient time and place.

My Jeep stopped charging. After pulling the brushes out, I found them worn out. This item came fast and got me back up and running. It saved me a lot of money as compared to replacing the whole alternator. It was a five minute fix.
