This will give you a whole 6 extra inches in addition to the length of the shafts of your regular spade bits, letting you drill longer holes for extra long fasteners or reach into deeply recessed areas. It’s made of a hardened steel that holds up to the most rugged jobsite conditions. It also comes equipped with a tool-free bit changing mechanism. Pull back the collar at the tip, and you’ll be able to eject or replace whichever bit is in the unit. Also of note is the power groove geometry. This means that the extender is shaped to resist high torque applications from heavy duty drills and drivers. I ordered this in “good†condition. Upon arrival I noticed the retainer ring had been filed or worn down to where there was no texture on one side. Also there is a noticeable lack of smooth operation when placing a bit in or taking a bit out it grinds with a noticeable feel and one has to apply a bit of muscle to get it to release or accept a bit. Whoever refurbished this doesn’t need to be doing these

The runout with this is totally unacceptable - MUCH greater than an extension with set screws. It is more of a wobble than runout. USELESS for my application to drill center holes on a wood lathe. it might work with driver bits but not drilling operations requiring any positional accuracy.

These driver extensions vary enormously in quality, I even had a Milwaukee 12" from Amazon running off-centre and sent it back for refund. This Bosch one is the best I've seen, really well made to a high standard of finish. No run-out what so ever. Not Chinese for a change, this one made in Taiwan. 5* recommendation and you get what you pay for. Given the high quality it wasn't all that expensive, very good value.

I used a 3/4 inch spade bit with this extension and works great. Very tight fit and doesn't wobble around as I've had tried with other extensions. If you are planning to drill holes through things, just know that the diameter of the thickest part (the head) is 5/8. If you drill anything smaller than a 5/8 hole that extention won't fit through it. Had a very hard time finding the diameter of that part of the extension.
