I love this cordless trim router. All the power of a corded without the cord to tangle you. Full power, fast (immediate) stop when turned off. Plus auto turn off if dropped for protection. All of this with Bosch quality.

I’ve been waiting for Bosh to release a cordless 18v router that could take the place of my corded trim router. This router does not disappoint and it was worth the wait.. This is a trim router and takes standard 1/4" bits. I really like the size of this router. It's very compact and quite powerful. The things I really like about this router are: It stops almost instantaneously when switched off. It comes with all the dust collection attachments and a basic edge guide. The depth adjustment is very precise and there is no slop in the mechanism when locking the height adjustment lever. This router weighs 3.6 pounds with a 4Ah battery, over one pound less than my corded Bosch trim router. One thing to note is that there is a spindle lock lever that engages a pin to lock the spindle shaft in order to loosen the collet nut and change bits. You slide that lock to the lock position and you must turn the spindle by hand until it is locked. The motor magnets are quite strong and the spindle doesn't spin freely like you might expect, it takes a bit of torque to turn it by hand. Once the spindle is locked you can use the included wrench to change the bit. After changing the bit you need to unlock the spindle lock completely. If you don't unlock it completely and start the router the spindle lock pin will make the horrible noise described in another review. This is probably the only design flaw of the router; it should have been designed so that the router can't be switched on if the spindle lock isn't completely disengaged. If there is a second design flaw it’s that you have to briefly turn the router on to turn on the led lights that help illuminate the base then they will stay on for 10-15 seconds, it would have been nice if there was a button to turn on and off the illumination separately from the on/off switch. I'm a huge fan of Bosch tools and I am very excited that Bosch has finally released a cordless trim router. I love mine. My images show the GKF18V-25N (this router), the GKF18V-25N with 4Ah battery compared to the GKF125CE corded trim router, the spindle lock lever in the unlocked position, the spindle lock lever in the locked position.

I have numerous Bosch corded as well as cordless tools and have been very happy with all of them however after patiently awaiting the release of this router to buy I was sorely disappointed. The fit/finish/features were excellent as usual as were the included dust collection accessories etc however as someone mentioned it sounded like it was defective right out of the box and had excessive vibration. I really like everything else about the router however I did not order a replacement rather I decided to wait for more reviews to see if maybe I just got a lemon or if there is a recurring issue. Hopefully more people will review so I can decide whether or not to buy it again.

I was looking forward to this router to use with all my Colt bases the tilt base plunge base and off set base. I received the router, put a battery on it and immediately thought something is wrong. This thing is loud and when you adjust the speed. The sound it makes is not reassuring that everything is OK, my ears still hurt. From turning it on momentarily. I’m hoping this was just a defective unit. I took it back and I’m debating on ordering another one. Size wise, the router is wonderful. With 2 amp battery on top felt balanced. very disappointed with this router, the noise is just too loud and irritating to my ears. I have corded routers that are far more quiet than this router. I have the 12 V Bosch cordless router that is beautiful quiet powerful enough for what it’s designed for and comfortable. I also have a Dewalt cordless router that is wonderful. Also, quiet fits in the palm. Quite nicely is a pleasure to use.
