About this item

  • INCREASED STABILITY: Heavier gauge steel base will stay balanced on any surface and withstand the hardest hits and pitches from the most elite athletes.
  • FEWER PARTS: The NEW one-piece base frame is hassle-free because there are fewer parts to lose. The connector (patent pending) is made of a tough glass filled synthetic polymer that combines the hinge and pole sockets for ease of assembly.
  • LONGER LIFESPAN: Heavier, powder coated steel base frame construction is engineered to outlast any frame on the market. Removed bottom sleeve transfers ball energy to outer bungees to reduce tension on the net and increase the lifespan.
  • FASTER SET-UP: With fewer parts, Bownet's Big Mouth X sets up in as little as 60 seconds allowing more time for practice.
  • INCLUDES: The Big Mouth X includes the new one-piece base frame, 7'x7' Big Mouth X net, Big Mouth X new heavy duty carrying bag. Also included with each purchase is Bownet's outstanding customer service and one-year manufacturer warranty.

This net is simply awesome. Here is what I like so far:* It is very easy to setup and tear down. The first time took me about 2-3 minutes to setup, but now that I know what to so it really only takes about 1-2 minutes tops. Taking down is the same, very easy which is what you want in a mobile net.* The quality and weight of the poles/frame is great, very sturdy and feels strong. The netting I would say is a medium fabric, not the thinnest and not the thickest. Seems durable but time will only tell.* Back to being sturdy, the first day I used it, it was windy. My son and I were hitting balls off the tee and throwing pitches into the net and it never fell down. I did get it to tip once later in our session but compared to the other flimsy nets I have seen, this one pretty much stays put. I eventually put the anchors that come with the net into the ground, that held it down very well. My son was purposely trying to knock it over and it stayed put.* The net is BIG. I like this because my son can hit off the tee and if he hits the ball wrong, the net still catches it. No more running after the ball from an awkward hit. Great for pitching into as well, especially if you miss the target/strike zone you are still hitting the net.* Minimal bounce back from the ball. First of all, the mouth of the net is big so most of the time the ball will go into the back of the net. However, if you miss the mouth the ball will bounce back but very softly. So no worries about hitting the ball off the tee and having it bounce back at you.* I love that this net comes with its own travel bag. The bag is of decent material and seems strong but once again, time will only tell.If I had a con, which I really don't, it would be that the net does not come with instructions. You really do not need them, this net is very easy to setup. I simply looked up on YouTube how to setup the Bownet and there are many videos showing you how. I watched one video and figured it out from there.I highly recommend this net. It feels strong, has a good weight for the base frame and it is super easy to setup and tear down. I love that it is over-sized too so missing the strike zone or hitting the ball awkwardly still hits the net. Though I get it isn't cheap but the cheap ones are cheap for a reason from what I have found out. I look at it as a small investment for my son's future that should hopefully last for many seasons.I will attempt to update my review later on during the season if any of my review points change.

I have used nets from Jugs and Easton. This is by far a better product. The Easton nets have side poles that are held to the frame with rubber washers on the top an bottom. These never hold and you are constantly reattaching them. My Easton net had holes on the side where teh supports popped out and stuck back through the sides. The Jugs nets are good but I always find it difficult to fold them up and put away. The backs are also huge.I got the Bow Net in and thought what have I bought. This is going to be a pain to put together. How wrong I was. first time it took maybe 5 minutes mostly because I put the net on upside down. A 1 page instruction sheet would have been nice but there were no instructions. The second time was easily under 2 minutes. I would say it is quicker than the jugs because you do not need to anchor it down. Taking it apart is much quicker than trying to fold/roll the jugs. There are 4 base pieces 2 ends pieces and 2 center pieces that make up the cross bar. These snap together and lock with simple clicking mechanism used on many products. There are then 4 pole pieces that make up the 2 uprights. These just fit together easily. The net just slides down the poles on each side and Velcro's to the bottom. The corners of the net hook the the bottom and the top of the poles. The net is very stable even without the anchor pegs. At best it popped up an inch on a really hard hit ball into the side. I don't think you could tip it if you were really trying. There is nothing for the wind to catch so while I have not seen it in the wind I don't think it would be a problem.Packing up is as easy as putting it up. It comes apart easy and goes in to a provided bag that is about the size of one of the portable chairs everyone carries around. It zips across the long edge so it is easy to put the pieces in. It is about the same weight as one of the chairs. I find that in my truck it is much better than the large round jugs or Easton. When the net wears out you can buy a replacement net without having to buy the frame again. The only thing to be seen is how it holds up over a season.

This is an excellent product that is very well made. I had (have) a Skillz screen similar to this but it is breaking down after 2-3 years. The frame is very solid and is only four pieces. The side poles and net are easy to maneuver. The special "spikes" to hold the frame into the ground need to bee tapered so that they go into the ground better. I had a friend bend a really solid nail/spike so that it would go into the round better. I also had four of them made to help on windy days and for some of my really strong hitter/throwers. I used this for tee and soft toss practice for U7 boys U10 boys and U13. girls I've also used this at first base for throwing drills and it holds up well. Highly recommended, you won't be dissapointed. Again, only four stars due to the holding spikes.
